Perfect for my new storage/work shed!

I bought one of these fans to install in my new shed as I know that it can get very hot during the summer. It really does move the air out and I can feel a cool breeze coming in the door when it is on. I did not realize how well it worked until I was working inside the shed and the door blew shut with a bang even there was very little wind. When I tried opening it, I could feel the suction from the fan trying to pull it back shut. That did confirm that I will need to provide a couple of screened vents by the floor for it to do its job. I did find that the louvers do not completely close 100% of the time when the fan stops . I tried spraying some silicone lubricant onto all of the pivot points and that seemed to help a little.
For the user that commented that a screen is not needed to keep insects out - My louvers do have some small gaps when closed that small insects can get through - Should not be a big problem though as I will not be living (sleeping) in the shed, I hope.
I also found, like another user, that one of the blades would scrape on the housing when stopping. Just find the culprit blade and bend it slightly and all will be good.

Great Fan

Installed this unit in my shed to vent heat and any hydrogen build up from my battery bank which is stored in it. I find that it works well but their is something curious about it. As the manual says the motor will run hot, actually it has a warning sticker on it stating it might even cause burns if touched. Well it gets fracking hot, hot to the point where it shuts it self off until it cools then starts up again.
But I have to put a disclaimer on this review for two reasons, first I live in the Caribbean which usually sees 30C+ temps almost all year around and then on top of that its in a closed up shed which is probably 10C+ hotter than the ambient temp outside. The other point is that this is a 120v 60Hz fan and I've tested it so far on 120v 50Hz shore power which we have here. Once I get my new inverter up I'll test again where it will be running on 120v 60Hz power.

Works well for me!

This fan has worked well as a horizontally mounted, attic door mounted, exhaust fan for my 2700 square foot home. It has run approx 10 hours each night for the past 3 months. I realize my installation isn't "code"--not electrically (see switch mounted to side of unit in picture), or to manufacturer specification (must be vertically mounted). I've monitored its chassis heat (which would likely indirectly indicate change of friction and/or efficiency)and there has not been a difference since installation. Also, the sound of the fan has remained constant (just my ears measuring this :)) The installation is seasonal, as I replace fan/door with insulated door in winter. Overall, the mounting and installation was very easy. There are more details, such as air flow, one must consider when properly using any fan, but speaking specific to this fan, It has worked well for my use case so far!
Update: 2+ years and still running strong (used at 10 hour durations, 90 days a year). It moves air, and does well at cooling my 2700 sq ft house. I expect the louvers mounted horizontally probably reduces the rating a little, but they do their job of preventing dust (insulation), and probably heat, from traveling back into the house when fan is not running.

This fan is a good choice, so far

Reading reviews on this and other exhaust fans of this type is a frustrating experience, so I'll try to make this review as honest and clear as possible. First, I am a fairly proficient "handyman" type. I don't call repair persons unless 1) it's a plumbing issue other than clogged drain, or 2) it's an electrical issue that involves the main, or 3) it involves larger work (i.e., replacing a roof) or requires expensive, specialized tools (i.e., a backhoe or wrecking ball). I've had good luck and a lot of experience DIY-ing.
This fan came out of the box fully intact and ready to be installed. The only other item in the box was something that looked painfully like an instruction booklet, which I quickly discarded. I measured the frame around the shutters (10.25" x 10.25") and used this measurement to cut the hole in the location I wanted to place the fan. I then placed the fan in the newly cut hole, facing out, and used the pre-drilled screw holes on the mounting plate of the fan to screw in 4 appropriately-sized wood screws. It held tight.
I then attached a cord with a plug on one end to the black and white wires that were sticking out of the fan unit. Plugged it in, and voila, it worked, and my work was done.
Pros: It is what the description said it was - Honest price (time will tell more). It's all metal. It was easy to "see" how it worked and how to install it. It appears to move quite a lot of air. It is NOT silent, but it's NOT louder than a good-working box fan. There are no vibrations that concern me, and the fan appears to be well-balanced. The shutters work as expected; they open when the fan is on, and they close when it's off; shutters are NOT air tight, and I didn't expect that.
Cons: The only real negative thing for me was the 2 black and white wires sticking out of the TOP of the motor housing. Seems like they should stick out of the bottom instead. Only about 5" of wire was included. I would have like to see this feature be a bit more heavy-duty and secure. I may rewire that part myself. This was the deal-breaker for 5 stars.
Since this fan was just installed, I can't vouch for it's long-term veracity. But I will edit this review if it turns out to be a dud, or if it knocks my socks off with a superior performance. Or even if it just works as planned.

I have a small 10'x20' shop with low ceilings and installed this fan in a solid core door to vent dust and provide some air circulation. Why in the door? Much easier and more accessible than installing in a wall where dealing with framing and vinyl siding. It works very well for this purpose and vents directly outdoors. After two non-working DOA Shop Fox W1830 fans I decided on a different approach and this fit the bill. And it has a higher max CFM airflow with fraction of the footprint than the W1830 at about half the cost. I plug wired with replacement 2-wire tool power cord ($10), heavy duty toggle switch ($5), and galvanized outlet box. 4 stars and not 5 as the louvers don't shut perfectly tight, but this is certainly not a deal breaker. It runs quiet for a fan pushing this volume of air and the motor housing does get a bit hot -- this is noted in the manual. I didn't have any issues with sharp edges of the fan sheet metal housing -- it was very well-finished.
