Excellent for children of all ages. Even the old ones.

Not that anyone ever truly needs a bound book to practice in, but it does help track your improvement. This book is exactly what it is marketed as. There are always other options these days, but 300 sheets for ink or 600 for pencil...... c'mon..... With a small box of other supplies you could really keep an entire art studio on the corner of a desk or table. I work on ideas from the front of the book, and turn it over to do iterative practice on the other sides of the sheets. I number the corners and date them. This all sounds so OCD, but I can look and track improvement. I like moleskine, but the "work" gets done here.
and has pretty good paper

I give this thing three stars! It's very big, well bound, and has pretty good paper! Though I will say if your expecting thick cardstock esque paper this is not the book for you! I have I have 7 sets of alcohol markers and I thought maybe one or two of them would agree with this paper, and as it turns out this paper let's them bleed through onto the back like no tomorrow. I had put something on the next page so the markers wouldn't bleed through onto that page, and if the divider had not been there I'm sure the ink would have bleed through multiple pages. Sharpies, fountain pens, brush pens, colored pencils, white gel pens, and pencil seem to agree with this paper though! Just not alcohol markers. Still an interesting find and a pretty good find. Might do some hand or eye studies with this. I don't know if this paper holds up with oil pastels or charcoal or anything like that because I don't have it, but it would be worth it to invest some time into the reviews!

I ordered this for myself because it was such a large book. However, the spine has completely separated from the book!!! Ticked off is and understatement! I have not dropped it, been rough in usage, or anything that would have caused this to happen short of typical usage!! I know I can't receive a refund but I'm really upset about

I ordered this for general drawing, sketching, and doodling--sort of a drawing/day journal. I was a little wary about the quality, as the price point was so low for a hardbound sketchbook with this many pages, but I am extremely satisfied. I only draw on one side of each page, out of personal preference, using Micron pens. The paper surface is smooth without being too slick, and heavy enough that there is no bleed-through. I've had it 4 days and I've already completed a page per day. Excellent value=good quality+reasonable price.
However, due to the size and weight of the book, this is probably not appropriate for travel or carrying around. This one will definitely stay on my desk, and I'll continue to carry a Moleskine for less elaborate, quick sketches, while I'm away from home.

I've never been so excited about a sketchbook!

I dithered for a long time about buying this. I mean, I have a cabinet full of unused sketchbooks (okay, I might be an art supplies hoarder!). But the sheer size of it just got my imagination going about what I might use it for. I'm really glad I finally got it...it is pretty impressive. The binding is quality, the hardback cover beautifully textured, and the paper is great. I did a test on the last page with fountain pens, gel pens, technical pens, graphite, and watercolor washes (see attached 10-minute ink and watercolor sketch). They all work great and the heavy paper is a pleasure to write, draw, and paint on. Caveat: It's not sized watercolor paper, so watercolors don't flow and blend as they do on watercolor paper, but for sketching it's just fine. All in all, I'm quite tickled with this giganormous sketchbook and can't wait to begin filling its pages. While I wouldn't want to lug it with me on a hike, I can easily imagine taking it to a coffee shop, my weekly art group, or just out to the patio for a couple of hours sketching and journaling while sat at a table. It's a wonderful addition to my studio stuff and I look forward to getting lost in art with it.
