HPI Racing 48P 34T Pinion Gear - Well made - Incredible speed with Traxxas Bandit!

This HPI pinion is of metal construction, is easy to install and it continues to withstand the punishment we give it.
Running with a 76t spur gear in a Traxxas Bandit generates a rear wheel gear ratio of about 6.08:1... we know that this ratio is not recommended on the Traxxas bandit gearing chart, but it makes the Bandit crazy fast even though we are not using brushless and lipo gear! As you would expect, it is not quick out of the gate but it has insane top-end.
With this gearing, the car is very over-geared and we must really watch motor heat closely. Just a couple fast, long runs and then a cool down period is best.
When run with an 83t spur gear, the ratio moves to about 6.64:1 so it is a little quicker out of the gate and still has great speed... but you still need to watch the temp. Before running at high speed, give everything a good going over - we shredded a tranny bearing with a 76/31 gear combo so keep a close eye and ear on things.
The availability of replacement parts for the Bandit, like this pinion gear, greatly exceeded our expectations. These cars and parts have been, and continue to be, an outstanding learning experience for him and that has been a blast to watch evolve.
If you need a pinion gear like this, or even if you just want to have one as a spare in your tool box, you will not be sorry that you did. Shipping was fast too.
