I had two cds that I loved and wanted to try to fix. I read the reviews and this seemed promising for the price. According to the reviews I read, following the directions is essential to achieving the best possible results. The directions are pretty simple to follow but there is one thing about the drops being applied to the pads that is not so clear. I went with putting one drop on each pad. The next time two drops on the right pads. Each time though, following through all the instructions, my CDs were restored to playing without skipping, which is what I wanted. It is super loud, not something you could do if you had a painful headache or baby or somebody sleeping that you didn't want to wake up. The only other thing I would add, is that in the little storage compartment, I can't store both the blue and yellow pads as originally package. There are 3 sets of 2 pads (6). The pink were loaded in position. The blue and yellow were in the storage box, but after use the pads expanded and only 3 not 4 will fit to shut the box and not get stuck. So I put my yellow ones in a sandwich bag to keep them safe and clean.

A friend loaned a CD to me that had either been used as a table leg coaster with a concrete floor or as a cat toy. Lots of visible scratches. It did not look good.

A tribute to the robustness of optical media, was that I was able to rip it except for tracks 1 and 3. I resorted to cleaning it, using eyeglass lens cleaner and a microfiber towel. That helped, but track 1 still had issues, so I took the disk out and looked at it, and then felt the inside diameters (CDs play from inside to out), and there was some grickle stuck to the disk surface. I scraped it off with my fingernail, and polished it again with the towel, but track 1 still would not play.

Today, the cleaner thingy arrived, and I ran the disk thru it once. It has a polishing step first off, and that removed the bulk of the visible scratches, then there's a polishing step, and then a cleaning step. The end result was the disk looked much better. But track 1 still wouldn't play right. The instructions recommend doing some steps multiple times, but they don't say which ones... (the manual is woefully sketchy), so I just did the whole thing a 2nd time.

This time, track 1 recovered, and I was able to play it successfully, and then I was able to rip it. Amazing! I'm a believer! I hope there are more supplies available, the unit comes with enough for about 50 runs. I take way better care of my CDs but I'd like to know that I have extra supplies. I'm sure there are CDs that it can't fix, but in this case, it saved a CD from my coaster pile.

I bought this "Specifically" because of The TV Series: The High Chaparral", of which I had a "bit" part in. Anyway, while looking at the Discs from the early part of the Series, I could see where the Laser Eye of the CD/DVD Player had been "Skating" on the Disc, which wouldn't allow the Disc to play completely, which would cause "Freezing, or the Loss of Sound, or Both. When I purchase a Product, I get "VERY HARD-NOSED", there are certain Parameters that MUST BE MET or I WON'T BUY THAT PRODUCT, IT'S THAT SIMPLE. After Receiving this DVD/CD Disc Cleaner & Restorer, I tried it the first disc of the TV Program, and after repeating the Buffing, Repairing & Cleaning Process Several Times, "the disc was badly damaged", and making sure that the CD/DVD Player Laser Eye wasn't Skating on the Disc, the DVD Played completely through without a Freeze, or the loss of Sound, needless to say "I WAS ELATED"!!!!!!! So I set out to Buff, Repair, & Clean ALL 40 disc in the TV Series, I put that machine to WORK, & IT WORKED HARD, always coming back for MORE & MORE & MORE, so much so that the Repair & Buffing Wheels were showing Wear, I then decided to order new Wheels & Another Machine, & I DID. Look, this DVD/CD Professional Disc Cleaner & Reconditioner has Jumped through ALL OF MY "HOOPS" with FLYING COLORS, I know that it'll work just as hard for you, THIS IS THE ONE TO GET!!!! BTW, I "ditched" the CD/DVD Player that was "Skating", it was Old Anyway.

Hands down better than the manual resurface type cleaner for all discs .Great value for the money I've spent on this little machine and the replacement kit as well I to this day still use this to fix and clean DVDs, CDs and wii,ps1 &2 games after kids use them, I hate to have music skip when I'm relaxing or having a video glitch because the disc has fingerprints on the readable side this machine fixes that for me .

I couldn't get a good before picture to show the scratch, grime, and dirt on a dvd after it was returned to me, but the results I am seeing are beyond amazing! I bought this a few years ago but had never used it, but I'm so grateful I had it when I needed it! This is definitely one of the best items I've ever bought on Amazon!
