This item did exactly what's it's suppose to. It is a momentary contact switch. It rotates in only one direction 90 degrees. The same direction will open and close the garage. I needed this due to the previous tenants didn't leave the key! This switch works as it should.

Got this for my neighbor and couldn't get it to work with his opener. Tried it on my genie & chamberlain it work great. Very sturdy just install it so nobody can pry it out and jump the wires I hooked it up then pulled the wires back tight and secured them But it didn't work on his craftsman but I keep it It is a good one.
So easy to install….anyone can do it!!!

This is a nice momentary contact switch that is operated by a brass key. It fits in a 3/4 inch bored hole with a maximum of about 5/8 inches of depth if the provided escutcheon plate and toothed washer are employed. The lock barrel is designed with two opposing flat areas to prevent the barrel from rotating when the key is turned in the lock. Both the escutcheon plate and the toothed washer keys to these flat areas providing quite adequate rotational anchoring. Four screw-shank round head brads are provided to secure the escutcheon plate. Wires are attached to two terminals with included screws.
This can be mounted in an exterior door jamb similar to a door bell or in a project case or in a purpose-built cabinet to unlock the door and turn on interior lights. Closing the door could then turn off the lights and lock the door. Amazon provides a number of small solid-state relay control boards and electronic locks that can be used in this way.
NOTE: this is MOMENTARY CONTACT, Normally Open, switch, suitable for a low-voltage control circuit. It could deactivate an electronic/magnetic door lock that has a timed open period after deactivation, or its specific intended use to cause a garage door opener to start its open cycle without a remote control.
