This been seems to do what it is intended for, which is to keep moisture and pests out of my food - specifically rice. I've had a bit of an issue with that lately, and was looking for an airtight container that would also offer easy access. The seal doesn't seem overwhelmingly tight, so I'm not sure how well it seals yet, but only time will tell. It's a good size, and can easily fit a 20 lb bag of rice, and slide under the lower shelf in my pantry. My only gripe about this is that it's quite expensive, for what it is. Otherwise, I'd give it more stars.

It's a good product but the only downfall for me is that every time I scoop flour out of it, there is not enough space for my scoop so I make a mess getting it out. I might have to replace the flour with something else that may not cause a mess, maybe nuts?!?! Keeps it sealed well over all.

Sadly, it's NOT airtight and NOT watertight. The description claimed, "Excellently airtight and watertight with patented 4-hinge locking system with silicone sealing ring"... Was I supposed to take your word for it? Silly me, I tested it:
I filled it partially with water, snapped all clips closed, turned the bin upside down and... it FAILED miserably. A stream of water escaped from the quick open flap, even with my hand helping to apply pressure to the closed flap. (See pics) The flap seal is different from the full outer seal. The full outer seal is secure and does seem to work but you can't escape the inadequate flap design. Looking closely, the flap is definitely not airtight. There is only one clip opposite the hinge securing that flap. It was easy to see the 2 gaping sides that had no clips. I liked the design of the bin but I already own non-airtight bins that I was trying to replace. Shame on you Amazon for lying to me.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE! My hubby gave me an Amazon gift card for Christmas and I used it to purchase 7 Lock and Lock storage bins (3 of this size). I love to bake and the flip up lids are great for scooping out flour, etc. Even better the large lid snaps off too and makes for easy filling of the bins from a bag of sugar, etc. The lids snap FIRMLY into place. These bins stack nicely too.
PS-I bought vinyl letters from a craft store and used to indicate what was in each bin. Makes it super easy to identify what is in the bin.

We have been using this product for several years now and they seem to be the most practical way to store and dispense our home's supply of Basmathi Rice, Idli Rice, and long grain rice. I love the hatch and the little notch to pull the bin forward. It would be great if this had a handle on the side to be able to lift the bin off the shelf to a counter to pour off the 20 lbs bad the rice comes in.
