I use this for my shihtzu's hair and it works fine. It is elastic and does not pull on her hair (well I hope not) when I take it out. I wish there was an option to buy more.

They are like real rubber bands only smaller. I really don't know how to rate rubber bands. They are round, elastic and stretch a bit. I had to laugh when I opened the box they were shipped in. The bag of rubber bands was carefully wrapped in bubble wrap!! The entertainment value of that was well worth the price!
