So far, so good.

This seems to work pretty well. My only concern is the width of the mounting plate and the spacing between the screw holes. We have another brand (unknown, at this point) that has a bigger plate and larger holes for larger screws.
We hang 5lbs of sunflower seed, plus a heavy plastic feeder that weighs about one pound itself, and the whole thing seems to work fine. This fall I'll probably replace a couple of the screws with through-bolts and a plate on the opposite side of the wood (or fender washers). It's mounted on a 2x6 now, but I'm concerned about the small size of the screws.

Heavy Duty and well made. Try my DIY option to make it 5+ Stars for the birds
Bill VK•May 27, 2017
Ok this really a Heavy Duty product, we'll made and I highly recommend it, but I have a DIY option to get it 5+ Stars for the birds.
The one thing I noticed was the birds would try to perch on the slanted bar but they could not get a grip on it and would flutter their wings fighting to stay on. I thought to myself, they need some grip tape on the top of the bar so they stay it without sliding down it. I happened to have some Stair Tread Grip Tape from 3M. (it was 4" wide but easily cut into strips approx 3/8" wide)
It is foil backed and perfect for outdoor use. It bends around the top side curve of the bar too. It is black too so it doesn't stand out. See my up close Photo of the grip tape on the bar and then the photo of the relaxed female Yellow Finch perched on the bar. I actually ran it up and over the top curve of the hook since the birds like to be on the highest point to look around and strategize their move down to an open spot on the feeder. Birds will line up on to wait their turn.
P.S. I don't have a squirrel problem so potentially"‹ it could help them get a grip up to the feeder.

Great pole to screw to a wall or hang a bird feeder or plant over the backyard from a deck
Bob T•February 7, 2017
Used this pole to hang my Model 7533 Woodlink Absolute Squirrel Resistant Bird Feeder. Just purchased the feeder that came with a pole but wanted one that would hang the feeder a few feet off the deck to avoid seed and bird droppings from messing it up. Could only find ones at Home Depot, Lowes and ACE that would clamp to the railing but when filled with seed, I did not trust using them. Purchased one and took it back. This one is perfect, Used (4) 2 inch number 10 zinc coated screws and it is perfect. If you use screws that long definitely need a pilot hole. Probably could have gotten away with 1 1/2 inch length. The screws that came with it should be fine for a smaller feeder or plant but the Absolute feeder is pretty heavy when filled. Today's wind is not fazing it. This pole is perfect!
One year later update: I hang an Absolute squirrel proof bird feeder on this and over the year the pole has permanently bent a bit where is now hangs a little lower than my deck rail which reduces bird watching vision. I noticed this especially when my son recently purchased another feeder identical to the first with this same pole for our Christmas gift. Hey, he asked for suggestions so I gave him the detail. Now one hangs lower than the other. Would love to just buy a replacement pole. My suggestion is to not fill the feeder completely but more like half to keep the weight off.

Mine worked prefect holds a heavy load I used it to hang a LED box light over a fish tank it did the job very well.
Great rod, great design, LOUSY set of screws provided to hold it all together - they're one 'star' away from being perfect!
G. Warnock•January 27, 2016
This thing works as advertised and I really, REALLY like the ability to loosen the thumbscrew (with a nice big knob on it for ease of tightening / loosening) and swing the pole back around so I can fill the bird feeder.
It's solid and well constructed of heavy gauge steel rod and nicely coated. I think it will last through the elements but only time will tell. The ONLY thing between 4 and 5 stars with me is that they give you cheesy, aluminum-based screws to mount it. HELLO!?!?!?! If I'm mounting this into exterior grade wood, and it has to withstand the stress of a heavy steel arm hanging out another 3-feet WITH a fully loaded bird feeder on it, why don't you put some excellent, heavy duty, wood screws (preferably coated) to hold this thing to the mounting surface?? The manufacturer took a GREAT product and put sub-standard screws to hold it all together to the mounting surface - that's just plain lazy, stupid, or cheap - all of which result in loss of a 'star' and me getting my own screws out to use. The provided screws heads will strip out long before you've driven them home into the wood, regardless of how hard you press, or what kind of 'perfect' driver you use.
