Great starter beam for home use. The only problem is that the hinge stick out when opened so it is hard to lay flat on a hard surface, but works great on carpet. Easy to clean up and store. I like the beveled edge. 8 ft is almost to small. My 10 daughter stands on one end and finishes her cartwheel on the other with now room to spare.

I got this beam for my eight year old who just started gymnastics. She loves it. There is a door type hinge that keeps the beams together, but since we will only be using it on the carpet the hinge doesn't get in the way. The original shipping estimate said I was going to get it after Christmas and I was a little disappointed... but to my surprise it arrived two days before Christmas! Super happy with this product. She can fold it up and put it away herself! Folds up nicely, and I am able to store it under her bed.

I was super nervous about our daughter being a beginner in gymnastics and I have watched her at the gymnastics centre and held my breathe and clenched my teeth each time she falls off the beam.
My goal was to make her feel more confident but also keep her safe. I am so glad we purchased this for her. Every day she has been practicing and I have seen such improvement as she is no longer fearful of falling and hurting herself.
As other people have posted - there is a bar latch attachment beneath the beam that holds the beam together and yes it most certainly will scratch the floor so as per other people's advice we use my daughters room carpet beneath it.
It's super easy to move from room to room as it has a material handle.
It is a great investment and I highly recommend this beam.

I haven't given this to my daughter yet, but I know regardless she will love it. My biggest complaint is I spent the extra money on this as it said it was 3" high, others were only listed as 2 in similar price/quality, but it is really only 2-1/8" high, which is honestly disappointing as it will not be as easy to grip and practice some of the thing hand stands and things since she won't be able to get hands fully around it.
