Let me preface this by saying I almost never leave 1 star reviews because I, as a consumer, rarely give them credit. My philosophy is that something earns at least 2 stars if it performs its basic function, albeit poorly.

And thus we have a 1 star review here. That means it does not perform its basic function of providing light when needed. The first two or three days worked fine. Motion activation worked, remote worked. A few days later i found that it was turning on every few minutes when absolutely nothing was present to set it off. Then i found that it wouldn't turn on when something was present. Then the remote stopped working.

I had previously ordered a 400 lumen lamp from the same company and returned it after 2 days because the motion sensing didn't work. I've had this for about a week and threw the packaging out, so I'll probably just disassemble it and salvage parts. I wish it worked, but it doesn't. Can't recommend it.
Great for when you need an outside light to turn on from inside the house.

I am a Mr Beams fan and have three different models but I needed one I could turn on. So I placed this next to my very bright Mr B on my porch so there would be light for arriving visitors at night. It gives plenty of light until they get within range of the other Mr B so it does what I bought it for, to replace switch operated floods that were also motion sensors so would come on at all times during the night if I forgot to turn them off, or would be too insensitive to pick up people coming to the house ( which is what the other Mr Bs replaced). I also use it to check the weather (rain or snow).

The other thing I admire and appreciate about Mr Beams is they last in the weather. Another set of "outdoor" motion sensor lights I bought lasted a year before rotting out from leaks. My oldest Mr B is three years old, on its second set of batteries and still dry inside.

Works as advertised. Easy to set up, but my only issue is the pads for turning the light on and off as well as setting the features really need "feel" points like a raised button so you know where the button is at night in the house. Yes, you can turn on the indoor lights, but where I have the switch located, it can get a bit dim, so I have to take it out of the holder and get some light. It is a minor issue but so easily corrected I am surprised that it has not been done.
I liked these at the beginning

I liked these at the beginning. But after a year the remote control no longer works. It was mounted against the house. Near the power box. I also put the remote in the holder backwards so the buttons wouldn't get the sun. But the remote stopped working, and cannot open the area to get the battery. So I no longer have a workable remote control.

I contacted Mr. Beams they sent out a new remote. But now the lights are coming on as motion detectors; they are not set to do that. So we have to keep resetting them back to work on & off.
Anemic light output - don't buy this for security purposes

This is probably a great product if you're looking for some "fill" lighting or want to illuminate a pathway or doorway and don't want to hassle with wiring. I was hoping it would be brighter in order to use it for more of a "security" type purpose, but unfortunately it falls very short of that goal (for security lighting, I highly recommend the Mr. Beams MB3000 product, but unfortunately it doesn't offer remote control).

I have a situation where I live on a corner, and on our side street a few times of year we get people parking and playing music or talking loudly late at night (we live by the beach). The big problem is that our bedroom window (which is normally open at night) faces out toward this street, and being woken up at 3 in the morning by drunk idiots blaring rap or heavy metal music or talking loudly gets really annoying, especially on a week night. Rather than having to get up out of bed with a super-bright flashlight and personally suggest to these people to either quiet down or go somewhere else, I was hoping to mount a few of these lights along the fence and then be able to turn them all on with the remote from my bedside table, as advertised.

Alas, there are two problems with this application for this particular light - the amount of light they put out is pretty much of a joke (its a bit more than a night light) and the remote will only work if I hold my arm up high enough that I can point it out the window and have a direct, unobstructed line of sight to the light itself. (I'm about 25' or 30' away when doing this, and the light is mounted on top of a fence). If I drop my hand down below the headboard of my bed (and the wall behind it) it won't work, but if I raise it 6" so that it is peering out the window, then it will operate the light.

I'll probably be moving this light to my car port or some other "convenience" type location where it will be better suited, and continue my search for a more powerful (brighter) security type light that can be operated remotely. (Motion sensor lights won't work because I don't want the light going off every time a car drives by or a neighbor quietly walks past on the street.)
Veyr useful motion and remote on/off switches

Bought this for a friend as a gift after someone entered their house during the evening one night while they were out due to dark back yard. Sent it and because they were upset by the break in and did not know what to do. Upon gift arrival they called and asked why. I told them to put it up, a couple of batteries and a couple of screws so that if anyone moves it would light up and shoo. After about one week, they called back thrilled because they also have animals and they use the remote feature when taking dog out at night. So, due to their excitement, I sent another! They put it on the other corner of the house so now, despite that corner being closed in and not truly security threat, they can light up all around using the remote when they either walk the dog or entertain at night at the barbeque pit. Somehow, our friendship has grown dramatically because I sent on the order of $50 in gifts to help calm an unnerved friend.
