Cat Genie - Cartridge Manufacturing Issues

When I installed my Cat Genie late 2016 I loved it and it still works like a champ. The problem that I have run into lately is that there are now manufacturing issues with their cartridges, specifically the sloppy alignment of the sticker and the RFID chip that controls the unit. The sticker and chip that they put on have an alignment line and the machinery/people that are installing the sticker are placing it 3/8 of an inch off, which prevents the cartridge from being used. The reader in the litter genie is not strong enough to read the chip when it is in the incorrect position.
Additionally, once the cartridge has been removed from the cellophane it is not returnable. The RFID chip only allows 120-ish uses, so it is not possible to move the solution to a cartridge that works or is near empty.
I LOVE my Cat Genie but am not happy about blowing $25 on unusable cartridges.

My cat genie didn't recognize any of the cartridges! I double, triple, and quadruple checked to ensure I had done everything right... About 12 hours of cat genie beeping later, I thought to put a cartridge in that I purchased from Chewy: no problemo & no more beeping. I don't know what happened with these cartridges, I've never had this happen in the year I've owned my cat genie, but I will be only purchasing through Chewy from now on.

Purchased this cartridge and once it was empty I modified it so it's refillable, installed a CatGenius adaptor on my CatGenie, and now I never have to buy the SaniSolution again. Instead I buy 1 gallon jugs of SimpleGreen (non-toxic) cleaner which lasts 6 months, works just as good, keeps my 4 cats happy, and only costs $10 a jug. ;)

I have only great things to say about the CatGenie. With 4 cats, decent quality scoopable litter gets very expensive, and if you miss a day of scooping the whole house smells. We easily spent 70 dollars a month on litter until we got the CatGenies. The system saves us money, and on a twice a day cycle these cartridges last two months! The SaniSolution works as described, and the scent is fresh and clean. There is an unscented one available but we enjoy the fragrance.

A little expensive, but the cat genie is an amazing product that I cant live without. I have 2 inside cats and the cleaning cartridges keep it flowing nicely. A clean smell and with the right setting this cartridge will last you months. The case is a very hard plastic which will easily with stands heat and will not easily break if dropped. The spout is recessed so you cannot easily cause it to leak or damage it. Very easy to install and remove. Easy to dispose of. What more can you ask for?
