This file cabinet is well made and what I wanted. However, the color is way off and didn't blend with my desk. The color shown is not correct. It is very red. Sadly, I had to return it.

It comes pretty much assembled so that was nice. Is it dark? Yes. But I find it on the darker end of cherry, but still cherry. Very well made & holding drawers full of files with no issues. If your file stick up a little higher because of the hanging file, it can accommodate it without any issue.

This filing cabinet is fantastic, the drawers open and close with little effort, the wood (real wood) is very nice, the drawers are big, all my folders and files fitted nicely and I still have room left.
