i just received my mitts yesterday so i haven't used them yet. i recently bought a pair of supposedly high heat oven mitts from a restaurant supply store. i was told by the clerk that they would keep your hands protected in a high heat oven (over 500 degrees) and that he sold these mitts to people who used them in a 600 degree pizza oven. i used them in a 450 degree oven baking bread and my hands got very hot. if fact my hands and forearms were bright red and burning hot when i took mitts off. i was skeptical of the claim on these mitts, however, when i received them i could tell how different they were from my original pair. the material is heavy duty and the inside is padded and soft. i have thrown away my old ones and cant wait to put these to the test. although the price seemed a little high it is worth it if i can keep from burning myself every time i use my oven.

Pros: These are excellent. They insulate your hands from hot objects much better than the cheap pot holders I had before. They're long enough to cover about 1/2 of my forearm so an accidental splash or brush with the oven door doesn't result in a small burn. They have magnets which is very convenient. Mine live on the fridge door.
Cons: According to the washing instructions, the magnets will fall off after 100 washes, which is not ideal for a product used to handle food and require frequent washing. This particular model is a little baggy on my hands which can make gripping items a little harder than I'd like. Next time, I'd look for a smaller size, if that exists.
Overall: I'd highly recommend these.

Too big, great heat protection

Very large, I have average hands and they are swimming in these gloves. Makes it a little harder to grasp things. Heat protection is excellent.

I wanted a longer sleeve for use in cookong outdoors on a Weber gas grill that get HOT, Brian up to 600F and for lifting/moving cast iron pans on that grill. It works- no more forearm burns and I am able to lift my 15" and 18 inch pans without fear of burns to the palms

Pretty nice, but I can still feel heat starting to come through after about 5 seconds of lifting out a heavy grill pan from a 400 degree oven
