Not as described. Ordered the 16" tongs. I was so excited to find these tongs after losing the best pair of heavy duty tongs that I had for years that had a push lock at the end of the tongs. However, what I got in the mail was the cheapest pair of tongs I have ever seen in my life. First of all, they are not Edlund but HuaTai. Someone placed a printed barcode label over the manufacturer label to make it look like they were Edlund brand. The steel on these is paper thin and flimsy. Instead of a lock mechanism, they had a square metal slider that goes up and down the length of the tongs to keep them closed. The tongs at the flea market seem elegant and expensive compared to these crummy things. So disappointed.

These are the best tongs I've had in years.they are heavy duty ,strong.When they are in the locked position you can still use them for small things.the locking mechanism seems flimsy,but is holding up very well.Will refer to frends,and order more for my self.

This is a nice pair of tongs. Funny how some of the most simple things in life can make you happy. I was just so frustrated with how flimsy the big box store tongs were that I decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra money for this pair. They are nice and sturdy. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because I don't really like the closure. It's the only part that seems flimsy to me and really isn't necessary in my opinion. I also like the fact that it's made in the USA..! I purchased the 9" size, but may buy the longer size also.

I thought these would be better based on reviews but I still prefer my old pair of short tongs I bought for $5 15 years ago. These will definitely work as a replacement but they don't quite work as well. They are, however, comfortable to hold and feel like they will last a while. I think I prefer flat head tongs instead, which may be my problem.
