You do get what you pay for- fine light duty tent, poles shattered in the wind
Kim Wilson Owen•March 13, 2018
You do get what you pay for, and it's worth learning to stake / guyline correctly and perhaps get better stakes. 1. We use cots so we would be able to get MAYBE five/six people in here. Before that we used air mattresses. MAYBE 5-6 people. On sleeping bags on the floor, MAYBE 9 people? The "room divider" is just a thin almost seethrough piece of nylon. 2. As always, learn how to properly run guylines and stake tent and rainfly. Go ahead and get special long stakes. Re inforce the proper staking BEFORE the desert gusts hit. We just came back from SoCal desert. Wind was forecast 20-30 mph with occasional 40-50 gusts- no idea exactly how strong the wind actually was. First night: All good. Second night: In the middle of the night daughter had to re stake her end because it collapsed on her, and put large rocks on the stakes to keep them down in the loose sand. Third day: we re inforced guylines and stakes with ropes around small boulders. Fourth Day: Woke up with one broken pole that still worked. Wind picked up, and by noon we had the originally broken pole plus 2 absolutely shattered poles and a four inch rip in our rain fly. I wish I had taken a picture. With heavy hearts because we had driven nine hours to be in the gorgeous desert with wonderful friends, we packed up and went home two days early. Husband is checking into where to get replacement poles and we are going to buy special footlong screw stakes for next time. I will probably do some creative sewing to re inforce the loops etc where we have to pass rope through to hold the tent steady and prevent the flapping that causes breaks and rips.
Roomy and easy to put up

If you are looking to compete in the my tent is bigger than yours race you will win with this one. This is a great tent and works well for our family. I can't get over how EASY it was to set up. The tent I had before seemed to take 45 minutes to put up, this one easily went up in 20 minutes and it was easy enough for little hands to help. I was slightly disappointed by the divider. I was looking for a two room tent and found the optional wall to be a bonus, but it really isn't much of a wall, I could have done the same thing with a sheet. As long as you understand that about the divider, this is an awesome tent. I would easily recommend this tent to anyone and you can't beat the price!
Survived wind, rain, etc.

We received on Wednesday and went camping that Friday through Sunday. When we arrived at our designation we learned it had been raining for almost 2 weeks straight so the place was mud and puddles. We found as level of a spot we could and set up. During the weekend we endured a wind storm, which kept pulling the stakes out, the my husband realized the front of the rain cover was the problem. He removed the pole that keeps the rain cover out over the door and all went well after. We had light rain most of Friday and a thunderstorms with heavy rain Saturday night. There was no leakage at all, we stayed dry. My only complaint is the height, it is really only the very center that is tall enough to stand up in, just wish they had add a bit more height all around.
Excellent Family Size Tent and Even Better Customer Service - Totally Impressed!

May family camps in the Anza Borrego desert every year and we've gone through a number of tents due to the potentially harsh conditions and strong winds that can blow through there year round. I was not familiar with this brand but decided to give this tent a try due to the spaciousness and features that it included.
Upon our first time using it, the area near the door ripped slightly upon zipping it up. In all fairness, it could have been our fault for staking it too taut in the first place. However, I've never had this issue with any other tent before.
My wife reached out to their customer service department about the issue. With very little hesitation and a great deal of humility, they immediately replaced our tent. The replacement process was very easy and the customer service department was beyond amazing. We didn't have to mail a single thing back to them. We were even allowed to keep the old poles and accessories to use as spare parts in the future.
It's not easy to find a company that stands by their product in such a complete and impressive way these days. So the fact that within a couple of days of us submitting our claim form and photos we had a brand new tent delivered to our front door was something that really floored us.
The new tent is holding up excellently by the way. I can't say enough good things about the product and Wenzel as a company.
Buy this one, you won't be sorry and you will get taken care of it anything should happen.

I was looking for a cheap quick-fix for a single camping trip.... we've used it 9 times so far and it's holding up to the girlfriend and the 5 kids between the both of us very well. Whether we're out for the weekend or a week, this gives us ample room for all 7 of us. Haven't had any leaks, tears, breaks, collapses or anything at all. This is a fantastic short or long term camping tent and we VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
