an impressive knife considering the price!

This is a very well made knife for the money. It has a pretty neat locking mechanism which is sort of optional because it's basically a metal collar that you rotate in either direction to lock the blade in the open position but you don't have to lock it open if you don't want to. the blade can also be locked in the closed position, which is optional as well so if you don't even want to mess with the collar at all and just leave it as it is and use the knife as if it were just a friction folder you could totally do that. The handle is excellent. It's shaped just right to fit in your hand comfortably and is well suited for normal cutting tasks, unlike many cheap knives of the same price range which have flat, thin handles and are sometimes very uncomfortable. the quality of the blade steel is very good considering the price range. as far as edge retention goes, this knife outperformed other pocket knives I've had in the past which were made of common low end steels.
Don't let the wooden handle fool you..these are seriously high quality knives.

These knives are good...very good. The carbon steel is really sharp, and stays sharp by occasionally running the blade through a pocket sharpener. If I had to find one negative thing to say, it would be that when the wooden handle gets wet, the blade gets a little tight to fold or unfold (slightly swollen wood at fulcrum of blade)...not really worth mentioning. The steel is great, the handle holds up and the rotating locking ring works. For the price, I don't think you beat these. I give them as gifts to my friends. They usually look at it kind of oddly...but later tell me how impressed they are with the knife.
i recommend forcing one to avoid any serious pitting and keeping ...

bit larger than expected but not by much. would defiantly say the number 8 would do for most jobs or people. but the 12 excels at hacking through a finger thick sapling or limb in a pinch. or multiple if you find yourself working near some brush and don't warrant the time walking back to your work truck for the machete hatchet bush ax clippers etc. just remember the blade is high carbon so if you maintain and take care of it it will last. but it will still get a patina, i recommend forcing one to avoid any serious pitting and keeping it oiled time to time
Best knife for the price

As others have said, it's a bit thin and floppy and has to be sharpened often, but it's damned good for a $12 knife, most knives at this price point are buttery-soft "stainless". You're not going to carve out an empire or survive in the wilderness with it (if that's your game, you should have a bigger knife/hatchet anyway, and just use this one for the fiddly work), but it's a pretty decent pocketknife for the average person.
A great little knife

A great little knife. Its quite interesting seeing the patina change over the years of using it. One of my favorite little knives. Can make it extremely sharp as its high carbon steel. If you've never had one before, be careful it doesn't rust, as high carbon steel will. Use a light oil when you first get it like veg oil. After a while a patina will develop and you wont have the rust issues.
