Narrow dispensing slot tolerance makes it unpleasant for brand-name Q-tips. Pre-filled Q-tips are unpleasant to use.
Rob III•January 16, 2018
I hate to dis a lowly Q-tip dispenser, but they could have done better. There are no show-stoppers here, but the wary buyer should know that the pre-loaded Q-tip have very small diameter and are not fun to use. I used the load of Q-tip for household cleaning projects because they were too small and hard for my ears or other human body parts.
When I finally re-loaded it with name brand fluffy Q-tips, it was very difficult to load, you practically have to put each Q-tip in individually so they line up. And, when you got to take one out of the tray, the Q-tip is hard to get out of the slot.
Net Net: It works fine with the tiny diameter unpleasant supplied off-brand Q-tips and clogs with brand-name Q-tips. And don't even try it with the fluffy safety Q-tips.

On the way to gone

Terrible, the cover is not attached and the dispenser fell over and everything came pouring out. Try putting them back in, not gonna happen. Wish I would have bought the cheaper one and just used it with the lid off like I have to use this one. I certainly cannot put swabs in there like a machine packs them. Maybe someone at Salvation Army will like it because that is probably where its going the first time hubby has to refill it! I can just hear him now!
The concept works for toothpicks -- not so much for QTips.

I read the bad reviews. Then I read a review that had some "trick" that supposedly worked for loading the Q Tips in so they would be straight. I tried that trick and it did not work for me. Who has time for this??? Gonna go buy something else.
BAD purchase

Not too many products do I say I wasted my money, but this one I definitely WASTED my money. If your looking for something simple to use, then this is not it. Loading it is a nightmare. One would hope to load it by handful at a time, NOPE. You literally have to do it one piece at a time. If you think the cotton swab is going to drop down like drink straws, NOPE. You have to dig your fingers in to it. Do not believe the pictures as advertised, someone painstakingly arranged them that way.
Not easy to use. Wouldn't buy it again.

This is okay, but the swabs must in VERY STRAIGHT for them to drop into the dispensing area. If one swab is the least bit "off kilter" it's practically impossible to remove it from the slot. And believe me, putting the swabs into the container straight takes time as you have to put in just a few at a time and make sure the next ones you put in it don't mess up those already inside. And sometimes the one you take out of the slot in the bottom sticks to another swab inside and pulls it "off kilter" to the slot, thereby making the next one impossible to remove without taking all the swabs out and restacking them.
We've been just taking the top off to remove a swab. I used to have an apothecary-type jar that has a tray the swabs rest on and comes up when you take the lid off (like those containers for drinking straws), but it broke in our move. Haven't been able to find one to replace it.
