Good tank for the price
Jonathan Heisley•July 6, 2018
Loved the fuel capacity and size of the tank. Fits perfect where it needs to go but kind of disappointed that the fill cap/fuel level cap leaks. Cap is nice and tight but leaks my premix oil and is stained. Also moeller mounting kit for the tank is very expensive for what you get and doesn't come with hardware
Great, well made tank

Great, well made tank, fits perfect in both a 2005 and 2017 17' Montauk. Only 4 stars because the gas gauge is worthless.
Top Topside for My Boat
Rabid Reader•October 8, 2017
Got this for my 17' Whaler. The old tank had given up the ghost due to the corrosive effects of the fuel. (And messed up my motor too...) So I decided to replace it.
This is a great tank. Very sturdy. Easier for the guys at the pump to fill for me, and unlike the red ones, it looks like it goes with the boat. Plus, so far the fuel gauge seems to be accurate. Which is good as the 1 thing I miss from my old tank is the see-through vertical piece showing fuel levels.
Now, my boat is older, and clearly used to have 2 tanks under the seat, side-by-side; the mountings are still there. The run-through for the fuel line sits between them.
When my guys put this tank in, they simply placed it on top of those mounts and strapped it down. Ooops.
After driving in some rather (cough) heavy weather, my boat suddenly stopped cold. (Very bad....).
What had happened is that the tank had slid aft a bit, pinching the line.
Inconvenient to say the least; it happened about 3 times.
I had gotten the metal mounting pieces, and the guys are putting them in as I write this, and I expect that to solve the problem.
I'd buy this again.

Very well designed replacement fuel tank for 17' Boston Whalers ...
Captn. Steve•June 10, 2017
Very well designed replacement fuel tank for 17' Boston Whalers. It fits right in under the driver and companion seat, the fuel fill protrudes the correct distance behind the seat. I used it on a 1973 Cohasset II that was renamed Montauk in 1974.
Carry more fuel, easy install and looks good.

Slid right under the seat of my Montauk 170 after removing the original red tanks and the the strap mounts. Personally I like the white tank better thank the red ones - just looks more finished in my opinion. While the space was empty I installed an in line water separator. The original fuel line connector did not work so i replaced it with a standard one from marine store. You will have to buy a male and female hose fitting since the Moeller tanks have a female thread for a 3/8" pipe thread fittings. I also recommend purchasing the mounting hardware to hold in place. For an hour of work and a few hundred dollars, I doubled my fuel capacity. Good to go.
