For people who work with autoclaves either in science or medicine, these gloves are superior. They cover the entire arm (the longer size), they protect from steam and heat, and they are very flexible, which means that you aren't clumsy with that tray of instruments.
For those who don't happen to have an autoclave in your home, they are outstanding oven mits. You can reach far back into the oven and your arms are protected. And you won't drop that cake pan or pie dish because they are stiff. I have them both at work, and at home.
