Key features
- •KEEP YOUR KEYS: By automatically coding the cylinder to the vehicle owner's existing keys, this innovative solution allows the owner to keep their keys.
- •SIMPLE INSTALLATION: By eliminating the work needed to fully disassemble and manually code the cylinder, this makes repairing and replacing an ignition lock easy enough that anyone can do it.
- •SAVES TIME: Typically, replacing an ignition lock cylinder requires a tedious, manual coding process. Dorman solved that problem by creating a tool that automatically matches the new cylinder to your existing key. Simply insert the key into the tool, turn twice, and then insert the newly coded cylinder into the ignition lock cylinder housing.
- •PATENT-PENDING: This exclusive design revolutionizes the process of replacing and recoding an ignition lock cylinder.

Perfect fit 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ SE 4Cyl. 5Spd.
I was even able to key it to the original key, (didnt have to change the door locks), I still use 1 key for the entire Jeep!
Instructions not great, but easy to find a vid on youtube to take cylinder apart so you can get to the tumblers. Did it myself, took about an hour, but It was my first lock cylinder ever.
Been working great ever since. The old original lock cylinder was so bad you could start the jeep with a screwdriver, no ACC postion and the steering wheel didnt lock after taking the key out. this Dorman cylinder fixed all of that! And it costs less than half of what the dealership wanted. I could not see any difference from the factory cylinder, it looked to be exact.

This ignition tumbler doesn't fit my jeep. I have a 98 jeep wrangler, and this should have been a perfect fit. That is not the case with this tumbler. Definitely double check the shape of your ignition tumbler before buying. This one has a hump on the side that is much higher than my steering column will fit.
Working Great

My old ignition cylinder (2004 Grand Cherokee WJ) was bad, to the point where the key would fall out of the ignition while running or in accessory mode (resulting in drained batteries).
This Dorman cylinder worked great, I followed the simple instructions to re-key it to fit my key, and away I went. The whole process took maybe an hour including trim removal.

Works as advertised. Be prepared that while the tumbler clips are clearly marked with numbers on the new cylinder, the ones on the old may be worn off. A good "plan B" is to physically compare each old clip against the new. It may require a magnifying glass and a ton of patience, bit it will work..
Perfect for Jeep Wrangler TJ

My Jeep Wrangler TJ ignition wouldn't go back to the original starting point, not could I just turn the auxiliary on anymore. It would just go to where you barely had to turn the key to start it.
Once I installed this, I immediately saw the difference. I now can turn the key back and now I have an auxiliary powerful only. It fits very snug in there. I would buy this product over and over again.
It took me less than 5 mins. Unscrew the shroud. Take the ignition out with the push of the lip on the metal amd push the other one in. That simple. I didn't change the code and kept the keys that it comes with.
