Not worth the money.

I was extremely disappointed in this item. I had been so excited to recieve them, and protect the hundreds of dollars of plants and work I have done. After getting them, I placed them over the plants and put the stakes in the ground. Within just a couple of weeks of having them covering the plants, most of the holes where the stakes go, had ripped out (stakes still in the ground). The planket itself pretty much just shreddred. And since the planket no longer covered the plants, all were lost to the frost. So, it's not just the money of the planket that I am out, it is also the money of the plants and work that was done. Frankly, a tarp or even a sheet would have held better, and protected better.
Quick and Easy Frost Protection.

We have four of these 10x20 foot plankets. We used this past spring 2016 when we had a week of overnights between 30F-40F degrees and were heavy enough to save some precious zone 1 and 2 plants from cold exposure in the gardens and we're in zone 5 - we started the flowers in the house and got them into the ground in the flower beds and a freaky late cool spell hit. We put them on in the evening and took them off in the morning and a couple times there was some light frost on them. They did what they were supposed to - protect our plants. I'm happy and the wife is happy I bought them - and judging by how well they're blooming in the 90's degree heat of Nebraska summers - they liked the help this past spring as well. If you need bigger covering then you'll have to go to a green house supplier, which I have for 100 foot sized freeze covering, but these work great and are much nicer to use than sheets! We don't pin them down, but use a judicious supply of paver stones we have as extra from gardening areas to weigh them down around the edges and they work great. They are very convenient and do the job when you're protecting plants from frost or a light freeze temps that aren't hard freeezes. When we're done we just fold them up nice and place them in a yard bag waiting to be used - or not hopefully - again in the fall or spring.
Some things to know before you buy...

Exactly what I needed. The long one had riveted holes so I was able to simply line my pots alongside the garage, add wall hooks and weight the ends and edges with bricks. So fast and easy that I did it more often than I had to just as a precaution. Remember always better to spend a couple more dollars for a blanket that may be too large, than loose a plant that didn't fit! Also something good to remember is when choosing your size that 10 ft. around sounds big, but it can be eaten up very quickly when adding in the height volume. Con: draw strings on the round version take time to set up but are extremely helpful and secure around plants or over tables of plants. I also weighted the edge of my round over my ground pot, but simply cinched the other round under the table after using larger pots to hold it up to prevent the fabric from touching any foliage during frost. Some areas where I didn't prevent fabric to foliage contact did suffer on one of the extreme nights. Caution: I did poke a hole from the prong of a tomato support cage...my fault, but ouch!
Good, Big Fabric Tarp

Big tarp and relatively inexpensive. Has some holes or securing, but I use bricks to secure with metal binder clips (used in offices) to close off any openings. Not very heavy duty so pointy branches will eventually poke thru if there is any weight on them, but this is meant for occasional cold snaps if you're in a temperate part of the country. The dark green color probably doesn't let a lot of light through so probably not good for long term covering. It is fabric not plastic, so easier to maneuver and fold and lets some moisture through when it rains.
Love These Plankets!!

These are terrifically useful. If you can purchase them with something to tie them into the ground do so -- they are very light. We had to keep ours on the plants with bricks and pots because we had a lot of wind during the cold snap.
I love the large size of this one -- it covers many plants at once and nothing is left out. I got two so if I ran out of room I'd have the next one. They lay delicately on top of the blooming plants and nothing is damaged. When I took it off the azalias the next morning as the sunshine came out I was amazed at how beautiful the plants looked underneath it.
The various sizes help a lot too -- the round narrow one's went beautifully at the base of my tree, covering flowers down there. The larger sizes covered bushes I did not want killed from cold and frost -- and they weren't. Thanks to Plankets my yard is alive and well!
