Rough Surface - Doesn't live up to quality of original

The griddle is the same size and configuration as the original griddle that came with the GE Café range. Unfortunately, the griddle we received was rough on one side of the surface. I dabbed some oil on a paper towel and wiped the griddle before using it and the paper towel was tearing on the rough area. We returned the griddle as the surface quality didn't live up to the original griddle.
