Perfect apron for a birthday gift

I made the child's apron for a friends soon to be 4 year old. Her mother said she keep the apron on all evening and made a fuss when she had to take it off so she could take a bath. I did increase the size a bit so she will grow into it. She loves anything that I make her and I tell her I really don't know how to sew (my mother was a great seamstress-made wedding gowns etc.) but watched my mother sew. She will be getting simple things made by me. The pattern directions were easy to follow and I think my mother was setting on my shoulder telling me what to do next.
