The Celestion G12V-70s are particularly great

I'm older now and can afford tube amps I had only dreamed of as a teenager. Having played through a handful in the past decade, the 68 Custom Twin Reverb is my favorite. I'd attribute it to 1) lots of power, producing a powerful bass response 2) Fender's famous scooped tone stack, and 3) two stock 12 Celestions with a higher wattage rating.
I mostly wanted to comment here that I really like the stock Celestion G12V-70 speakers that come with the 68 Custom Twin Reverb. Just to see what I was missing out on, I bought and installed some Jensen C12N 50w's, And while the Jensens brought out more of a mid range, they're harder to work with than the stock Celestions; harder to EQ, they have a mid range disposition that's a difficult to dial out. The Celestions, by contrast, can achieve a scooped tone effortlessly. I've read that the higher wattage rating means less dynamic response, but IMO, it translates into tight, predictable tone. Thumbs up for the speakers, and the Twin Reverb in general.

Warm, clear tones!

The warm, clear sounds of the amp and light weight were just what I was seeking. This is the third Fender brand amp I have owned and I went with Fender this time because of the great experiences I had in dealing with their service dept. in fixing issues with my two previous amps--issues I had caused by accident. Fender expressed the parts to me at no charge both times. The 5 year warranty is persuasive because I expect Fender to be there if I need service.
Better then the '65

Shame to see so many negative reviews about the '68 Princeton Reverb. I can't blame anyone who purchased this amp and had problems (bad reverb, rattling, buzzing, etc), but mine has no issues at all. No rattling, no buzzing, everything works great and the build quality is top notch.
Most importantly, I think this amp sounds incredible. Yes, it is darker than the '65 Reissue (I own both), but it is also much fuller sounding with more low end and more mids. Going back and forth, the '65 sounds a little thin and "ice picky" after playing the '68. In terms of effects, I actually prefer the reverb on the '68, tremelo sounds about the same on both.
I have made hundreds of purchases on Amazon over the years, but this is my first review. I felt compelled to write it because I just can't believe the relative low rating this amp has. I don't doubt the sincerity of other reviewers or the problems they had, but that has not been my experience. The '68 sounded amazing right out of the box and I have had zero issues. Highly, highly recommended.
PS - My '65 PR Reissue is going up on Reverb tomorrow.

Love this amp

Love this amp.
It sounds great with my strat, tele, les paul and es-339. The reverb and tremolo are excellent. It has a great clean sound that is a perfect platform for pedals and responds very smoothly to my fulltone Plimsoul. It is also great with delay and ambient reverb. It was more than able to keep up with our drummer at practice.
I have not had any issues with rattling, reverb or sound.
