I had been using a different brand UV umbrella which costs twice as much and the handles kept breaking in a strong wind. So far, this one has held up just fine. It is lighter, but it is also bigger (68") and it seems to provide the same UV protection. I would recommend it and will probably buy another. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is a little awkward to open and close.

I had to lower my rating a bit. I bought this umbrella in February and it is now broken. There was no contact with anything - just ordinary wear and tear from sitting in the holder on my pushcart during weekly golf. Yesterday, I took it out, walked to a green, closed it and laid it on the ground while I was putting. When I picked it up it would not lock open. When I looked more closely I realized that the plastic clip at the top of the shaft which holds the umbrella open had broken off. I wish I knew how to contact the seller, but there is no information on warranty. I think it is just cheaply made.

However, because of the price I am going to order another one and see how it does. If it would just last 2-3 years I would be happy.

Lovely umbrella. It will be great for summer concerts when we sit in our lawn seats and it rains. Its big enough to cover 2 really big people. So 3 avg size people could fit under it. The color is pretty and designed nice. Its is a huge umbrella The color is yellow and a light gold. Not white and yellow. Amazon needs to do a better job of describing colors of products they sell.

I bought this umbrella 2 years ago after getting baked to a deep lobster red while watching the Jones beach air show. I swore: never again! So I researched the best way to protect myself without something too bulky or combersom and decided on a umbrella. This umbrella is wide enough to protect me and my husband with our chairs together. I attached the metal rod to my sports chair with zip ties and didn't have to worry about the wind or the sun. The wind deflects nicely up and out of the top, and not only does the canopy completely shade you from the sun, but it's about 5 degrees cooler under its protection. You don't have to "turn" your chair like I see some people do with sports chairs with attached canopies, and it conveniently fits in my sports chair bag. I tried fussy gadgets to attach the umbrella to my chair that were a COMPLETE waste of my money. I toss a few zip ties and a large nail clipper inside my chair holster and my day is stress free. My husband was so impressed with my foresight and ingenuity that I'm purchasing another umbrella fo him to use, and he's already put zip ties with his chair bag so he's ready. You won't be disappointed if you're looking for sun protection.

I love this umbrella. It helps keep the heat from the sun off of me. I spend a lot of time at the softball fields and it gets really hot, and this umbrella helps alot. It provides so much shade. You can really tell the difference in the uv protection from this umbrella and a regular umbrella. This one is so much better. It is a thicker material. It has more of an arch than a traditional umbrella. It is big but I was looking for big. It is a little on the heavy side but i do not mind that. It does have slits in it so it makes it easier to hold when the wind is blowing. It has an easy to use plastic button to open it up. I have used mine for a year in rain and heat, plus I keep it in rhe trunk of Texas car and mine is not peeling. I read some reviews and it said theirs started to have dots and peel. Mine has one dot were the silver has come off. It is the size of pin head but it was like that when i bought it. This is a great umbrella for the rain and especially for the sun.

November 15, 2016 I received my second umbrella. I ordered another bc i loved the first one so much. I was SO DISAPPOINTED!!!! It is not the same umbrella as the first one i purchased. The material is so much thinner. The umbrella does not have the uv lining in it like the first umbrella that ppl would say would peel. This is just colored vinyl material. It does not block the sun as much as the first one. It is a lot lighter than my first umbrella but that is bc it is a cheaper, thinner, material. It feels like it will break at the first gust of wind, whereas the first umbrella was very sturdy. This new umbrella is plastic and cheap. I am sending it back and looking for another one!!!! I no longer give it 5 stars.

I've purchased 2 of these. Although they do a great job of deflecting the sun and rain, they have a serious design flaw. The first one I bought (November 2014) lasted a little over 8 months; the second one I bought (to replace the first) lasted a little under 5 months. On both umbrellas, the plastic ring near the top of the shaft that keeps the canopy open cracked apart (and failed). Instead of ordering another replacement umbrella, I bought a 98-cent clamp from Home Depot to substitute for the plastic ring. It's a hassle to attach, but I'm not ready (or willing) to invest in another umbrella.
