I like this range hood but it was difficult to install
rosegarden1846•September 9, 2017
I like this range hood but it was difficult to install. It has been working well so far. I've used it little so I will give you an update later.
Cosmetically sound, horrible design for the installer. Pay a bit more and save yourself major headaches.

First item arrived damaged ... the stainless cosmetic sides were dented.
I bought and installed this myself with the help of my dad. Both of us are mechanically minded and it took us a long time to install this.
1. The instructions are not clear - fair enough, a lot of people have stated that already so we were prepared.
2. The assembly design is poor. The screw holes that are tapped strip very easily.
3. Some of the screw holes are supposed to be tapped but were not, we struggled to lift the cosmetic chimney pipe and could not get the screws into the holes. They had not been tapped. We had to basically lower the cosmetic shield again in order to tap the holes and then lift up again.
4. The adjustment range is limited. If you have 8ft ceiling, you are really pushing the recommended clearance above the cooktop. In fact, we had to modify the chimney slightly to get additional clearance to meet minimum recommended height above gas stove. We put the sliding inner chimney structure in the shortest position (all the way up to the top) so that we could get maximum clearance below the hood. When we lifted the outer cosmetic chimney in place, the mounting holes were covered up (i..e. no way to install the hood part). Why allow the inner chimney to go up so far when installation is impossible in that position? We had to lower the outer chimney again and move the inner chimney down again.

Bad bad design

Sorry I purchased this thing, the hood level not adjustable, it has 2 fixed position for 8 or 9 feet ceiling
The instructions are horrific, it has 5 pictures with a couple of words underneath.
The none vent holes show on outside no material if you have a vent connection with tube inside.
Mounting the unit is hell.
I havery not connected power to it to see how it will operate, but thus far, I would give it a zero rating if I could.

Good customer service - I had a minor cosmetic problem ...

Good customer service - I had a minor cosmetic problem with this unit after unwrapping it (months after my purchase, was busy remodeling) and the company was quick to respond via email and sent me a replacement panel without any issue. Unit itself is challenging to install (2-3 person job) but this is typical for this type of hood. Have only used it for a few days now but so far very happy with purchase for the price.
Worth the money.

This was a pain to install, but I imagine any hood would be. The included hardware was strange, so we used our own to mount this to the studs. We also removed the plug and wired this direct to a 20 amp breaker. On high, this thing is loud, but the air flow is insane! If you're outside near the exhaust vent when this unit comes on, you'll know it. It's also all my heat going out when it's winter, so I don't use high very often. Low has taken care of most of my needs (except for Alton Brown's steak recipe.... gotta use high for that one). The LED lights aren't bad. They do help sometimes when I'm cooking something in a deep pot, and then I leave them on because they do make a great night light. The stainless steel column has a couple of dents in it. That must have happened at the factory because it was packed very well. I didn't even notice one of them until we finally were able to remove the white, protective plastic film. All in all, for the price we paid for this.... it was money well spent.
