Works pretty well once you get the hang of how to ...
Mr. Algernon FitzgeraldAugust 10, 2017
Works pretty well once you get the hang of how to work it.
Take that little 'silencer' off - it doesn't work the way you think it does. It's just for testing!
It's not supposed to click when you use it - give yourself about 4 seconds on pull and same for release. Takes some practice, but really helps with vinyl record static.

Neat trick is to aim it at a CFL bulb in the dark work the trigger, and watch the bulb light up - just like static :)
Static neutralizer - actually works
genghisApril 16, 2017
Originally, designed for neutralizing static on phono records. I use it for getting rid of the static cling of my burr coffee grinder - essential. Functionally, it's the same gizmo as the original "white" one of the 1980's. Positive ions on pull, negative ions on release. They claim 50,000 operations, but my white one is still going strong. I've also used it on stuff coming out of the clothes drier and even my socks. I have owned and misplaced a red one, also. I bought two of these blue ones when someone suggested that they were going out of business. For my lifestyle, this is a must have gadget.
Works well, wish instructions had more detail.

Works very well. Using it on a highly charged sweater you can feel/hear the 'wind' when discharging. Reading reviews there has been some confusion on how hard to pull trigger. You can see the neon bulb flash with each click, but slowing squeezing handle will also cause neon indicator softly glow. Sometimes triggering slowly will cause a click, sometimes not, either way it works. Not sure if clicking is bad or good for life of unit (there has been some debate over this issue) too bad the instructions do not give details such as this question.
Performs like the first red Zerostat I bought in 1978

A "MUST HAVE" for anyone who still spins records!!! Performs like the first red Zerostat I bought in 1978. If you crank up your stereo volume with Phono input selected and use on your cables you can actually hear the rush of ions that removes the static build-up as you slowly pull the trigger and slowly release. Very Cool!

Only gave this 4 stars as I believe that Milty "cheaped" out on construction of their ion generator over the years. The last "Blue" Zerostat 3 that I bought only lasted about 3 years.

The red one I bought from the 70's lasted 2 1/2 decades.....
Removes static charges like a charm
LYaoApril 14, 2016
Zero stat gun is used to remove the static charge accumulated on non conductive surface such as plastic or glass by generating a plume of ions at the object. Sometimes when I'm working in the lab and I'm trying to weigh powders, the charges on glass vial or my gloves could interfere with the powders and thus causing them to stick all over the vial surface rather than going into the vial. This product works perfectly well to remove the charges. Now even on days that are really dry, once I direct the gun and give it one squeeze, I'm free of worries for static charges and I no longer have any problem adding powders.

This product has arrived complete with instructions and in good packaging. And more importantly it's much cheaper than listed on certain science hardware websites. Highly recommend.
