This dictionary is more useful than I expected. Though there are not examples for the words, the vocabulary is large and enough for students of japanese or Japanese native speakers who are learning english. The design is beautiful and the cover is really good to protect the screen. Besides the japanese-english-japanese dictionary, there are also japanese-japanese dictionary (kokugo jiten), four-character idiomatic compounds dictionary (yoji jukugo), kanji dictionary in which you can search the ideogram by its part, number of strokes or its reading, a guide for english daily conversation and a calculator. The keyboard is in kana and romaji.

It's clear this dictionary is intended for Japanese native speakers, but Japanese language learners can enjoy it for study or a quick search in a practicising way. However, the lack of examples and a more detailed definitions for words can be frustrating for those who look for a more complete dictionary. At anyrate, I strongly recommend this dictionary because of its useful design and its quick word search for those who look for a simple, but practicing product.

The Canon user interface is very frustrating. Bought this for its size after owning 2 Seiko dictionaries that we wore out from use.
This is not even worth stuffing in a drawer - sending it back to Amazon.
