Great mathematical activities to engage learning
Empress JewelJuly 8, 2016
My 7 year old loves it. Great mathematical activities to engage learning.
Caution when ordering for certain devices. A really good captivating game.

Both of my children enjoy this game a lot.
I see other reviews criticizing the amount of violence on here, I know that with both of my children they are able to distinguish the difference between a game, and the real world; so I did not feel as heavily impacted by this. Also I don't necessarily view karate as "violence". They are both able to play a game, with characters from movies that they thoroughly enjoy, while respecting others around them.
Something important to note, when I ordered this game I did so because it said works with ALL Leap Pad and Leapster Explorer games, If you go down through the pictures you will see one that is in a purple framed box, that does NOT say this. I got that version of the game, fortunately both of my children's devices are explorers so this game worked in them. Caution should be noted though when ordering as I am not sure if the game I have would work on all other devices, as advertised.
The game is captivating, for my children. They both request to play it frequently, and are easily able to navigate and figure out how to advance to the subsequent levels/ areas. It holds true to the actual little penguins ("violence" level) from what I have seen, I think that this is underrepresented in the Madagascar films, while more apparent in the recent release Penguins of Madagascar.
I would wait and watch for it to go on sale, it seems to fluctuate in price; when I purchased it, it was $15.00, which is a normal "sale price" for the more popular games, typically, on amazon.
Overall if you have a penguin of Madagascar fan I would definitely recommend this purchase.
My Grandson Loves It

This is one of my grandson's new favorite games. He loves the action, and we love that he is learning math with great joy.
One of our favorites!

This is one of our favorite games. My son especially likes the bowling game and I love that the repetition has really aided his addition! The penguins are funny with their quips and he enjoys the versatility of the games on this cartridge. There is a game for karate, a game of bowling, There is a lot on this game, including addition/subtraction, logic & problem solving, sequencing and shapes. The animal facts are easy but he likes them. Always watch the levels on Leapfrog. It helps to get a game that will grow with you. By far, this is one of the best!
One of my favorite cartoons, one of his favorite games
James PapeikaMarch 29, 2011
I like the Nickelodeon show, and my son loves the game. The game is easy enough for my almost-4-year-old, who occasionally needed some help when he first started playing it. Now, he can play through the whole game--and he has, numerous times. I have seen the educational value--initially, when he was asked to identify the number of bowling pins or wires, he asked me for help. Now, he cruises right through and is even able to fill in number sequences above 10. The game includes some audio that sounds just like the cartoon. Overall, they did a great job.

I guess the game does have some violence--the penguin (you're Private, if you have seen the cartoon) does slap roaches, mice, and birds, but I don't believe that it is any worse than most cartoons on TV. The game play includes a lot of jumping, eating popcorn, and solving educational puzzles. The programmers did a great job--when you 'die' (we say get 'hurt,' I avoid saying that the character 'died'), you start right back where you left off--no need to restart or continue or anything else that may seem traumatic to a 3 year old. When he said, "Trapezoid," I knew that the game does actually provide some educational value!
