uses this fun set of learning games to practice his school-ready skills
Caroline CusenzaOctober 15, 2017
My grandson, who is just five, uses this fun set of learning games to practice his school-ready skills. He will be in a "transitional" class this year and it's helping him to retain what he has already learned in reading and math. After two years at a good preschool, this program is an excellent supplement to what he is being taught. He enjoys playing with this module and it doesn't seem to feel

Bought over 15 of these programs for our 3 year old grand son. Our daughter was Valedictorian in high school and in college and was into Reader Rabbit and the living books. Consequently, we are using the same approach with this new technology for our grand son. I think games should be educational and that learning should be fun!
Fun game with great lessons!

My daughter is 3.. she really enjoys helping mr pencil save the town! The only problem we have had is the font.. There are parts were your child will trace letters and then write them with out a guide.. well does any one really write an a that way? That isn't how the letters are taught in school. I wish the letters came as typical school taught writing style but everything else has been great.

The way they have you write the a is exactly how you see it typed on a computer screen in basic computer font.. (a) just like that.

I bought this for my just turned four year old son to use on his LeapPad 1 and he loves it!! At first he had difficulty with tracing the letters/lines that he's supposed to so I had to help him. Not long after he was able to trace them by himself for the most part - there's a trick to it though... and kind of annoying- that if you mess up it blinks a few times and says a phrase before you can try again. Pencil must be straight up and down to trace or it doesn't register right. Definitely workable though. My almost 3 year old can play some parts of the game too- she can do tracing and a few other things- there's a drawing page that she can scribble on, and she loves it when I help her through some harder parts. Its a long game with different things to fix in Doodleburg. Teaches colors, shapes, a little bit of the primary/secondary color wheel, lines... probably a couple more things..
Id say a little bit older would still be interested in it for the game's sake, but its definitely teaching my son at his preschool level. Recommend!!!!
Fantastic for developing pencil grasp and exploring art!

My two kids love, love, love this game! (My husband and I have been known to enjoy it as well.) My 3.5 year old daughter has developed the most beautiful pencil grasp from playing this game and from playing the "Tricks" section of the Pet Pals game. My son is 4.5 and loves this game as well. This game teaches how to draw all types of lines (horizontal, vertical, curved, etc. - with correct terminology), as well as art (color wheel, complimentary colors, how color pairing effects mood, etc.) It also teaches how to draw shapes and letters. The characters are funny and my kids love them. They also love the "flipbook" feature in the Art Studio, where they can draw a series of pictures that then are shown in sequence (rudimentary animation). This one is a gem!
