These are the best in this category

These are the best in this category. I have tried them all. The plugs go in and out easily and don't fold up as you insert them. It has a nice night light that can glow after dark or only during a power failure. And they look good. Don't waste your time with the others: this is the one.
Works as advertised

Works as advertised; I use this on my freezer outlets to give me an indicator light in case the fuse on the freezer circuit would blow. The light comes on when the power goes out, so I can easily see if the power is still active to that freezer. I like this light also, because it allows room to be plugged into the top of the outlet while still being able to plug in something else below it - many lights block a full outlet and don't permit other things to be plugged in at the same time. For my purpose, it would be nice if there was an option to have it flash during a power failure, but that's the only improvement I'd suggest.
impressed and getting more

When the power goes out, the LED lights are quite strong-they even woke me up in the night. Simple to use, perhaps a tiny drawback might be that they are not a night light, but only come on with power failure...which is what I want. Have orderd 6 more. When power failed in a.m. they came on and I just turned the switch to "off" to save their batteries for later. I haven't tested them for how many continuous hours they give light, but if they even last for 15 hours, that is icing on the cake!
it looked like it had partially come out of the wall socket

Have had this light for about a year now. Walked into my room yesterday and there was an odd plastic smell in the air and I noticed that my power fail light was on. As I walked up to it, it looked like it had partially come out of the wall socket, upon closer inspection, the bottom of the unit was melted and the two electrical prongs were just hanging out of the outlet ... not good .. I am now concerned about the other units I have in the rest of my house ...
Entirely bright enough for emergency lights, unobtrusive yet large enough to easily hold as a flashlight

I bought a bunch of these as emergency lights for a vacation home where it is very possible for the power to go off. Being a vacation home, it is likely that guests would not be familiar with their surroundings and when the power goes out it is very dark at night. I was particularly concerned about people showering or in the kitchen when power went out or navigating stairs in the dark. These units are perfect for what I needed.
They come on when the power to them goes off and the light produced is entirely adequate to easily see one's surroundings. That emergency light is very comforting and prevents people from panicking when they suddenly find themselves in unfamiliar surroundings in the dark.
These devices are small enough to be unobtrusive, yet large enough so that one is easily able to hold them and use them like a flashlight if one unplugs them. I plug them into the bottom outlet of standard two plug outlets and the upper outlet remains completely accessible.
