As always, I like to use a product and give it a fair shake before I review it. I bought this pump in late July 2017. My initial impression was favorable. I have a fairly large fountain (100ish gallons). I purchased this pump rather than a higher volume pump because I enjoy a more tranquil sound. It had plenty of lift and handled the small debris that occasionally got in the fountain. I run my fountain on a timer, so it operates about 10 hours per day. The pump lasted 6 months then suddenly lost its volume and lift. I tried cleaning it but had no success reviving it. I've used a variety of brands and generally get at least one to two years before I have to replace them. My last one, a Beckett pump, lasted over 3 years. This pump was good while it lasted, but didn't hold up very long.

am sure a pump in good working order would be great, but the one I got, even though it said INSPECTED by #XYZ, I plugged it in and it sounded like the shaft was broken, bad brushes, NOT sure but Amazon authorized a return for free and I had a credit in days. I'm trying another one. Let's hope this one REALLY WAS inspected by someone other than #XYZ and they choose to do their damn job instead of being busy possibly sexting. You could tell the other had been opened and taped up, no doubt returned by someone else, NOT COOL. I needed that pump last week. Someone cutting corners and really not doing their job cost me time and inconvenience, as well as whoever it was selling this item to have to pay for it's return.

My last pump died right before the holiday so I went online and found this one, which already had good reviews. It arrived in just a couple of days and was very easy to install, just by switching out the old one. I'm not one for reading instructions, but I didn't need them with this pump. So far it's been great and provides much more water pressure, up to 7 ft., (my waterfall is about 3 feet of large rocks and holds about 50 gallons of water), but the water pumps through with no problem. I would definitely recommend this pump.
