Sometimes good enough is good enough

Was there jamming of the staples as mentioned in other reviews? Yes. Undoubtedly, but the jams are pretty easy to clear (in about 4 seconds) and the price point and other product features make this a decent choice for someone who is likely to need this a tool a handful of times over the next 10 years. Why not rent? Because I am a noob to almost every DIY project I tackle and so that means I move slow and didn't want to be rushed. I have two of the three spaces that I am re-flooring complete and have been happy with the stapler - if you're a pro, I would guess the higher quality 18 ga is likely a better choice.
Mixed feelings

Well made flooring stapler. Easy to adjust. The down side is frequent jams but easy to clear. Not sure if it might be an issue with the staples themselfs.

A piece of crap. It took me to hours to shoot six staples. I would give five stars on the return.
Not a great gun but it's better when used with generic staple rather than bostitch ones
Mark Ebner•August 18, 2016
This gun certainly has its deficiencies (safety button by the handle is easily bumped and I still can't figure out what it does) but the worst part about it is the Bostitch 20-gauge staples. At least 20% of the staples misfired in one way or another. If you must use this gun, buy the B&C Eagle 97/25 1-Inch staples. They are vastly superior to the Bostitch branded staples.
Other problems with the gun are that the sleeve is too loose for the staples so you get overlapped staples. The spring isn't strong enough so once you get to about 1/3 of the staples remaining you are forced to split a sleeve of staples and put that in (which again, it's too loose and the sleeves overlap).
Overall a bad product by Stanley is compounded by the fact that they went with a cheap staple.

Do not buy this stapler! Get the EHF1838K instead!!!!

If you enjoy frustration, delays, and working harder than necessary, the Bostitch LHF2025K stapler is for you! I ignored the 1 star reviews when I ordered it from Amazon for two reasons: the first is that I thought that given the Bostitch name and my experience with their other nailers that the 1 star reviews were a fluke (surely it will work for me, right?), and the second is that my Bruce engineered flooring specified a 20 guage staple (which I can't obtain locally). The Bruce/Armstron instructions actually recommend this very stapler. Well, this was a mistake. Just like other reviewers noted, this stapler misfires, jams, or dry-fires every 3rd or 4th staple. Unjamming them isn't too difficult per se, but installing flooring is labor intensive enough with a stapler that WORKS. Despite my flooring manufacturer's recommendation, I was able to buy an 18 guage Bostitch EHF1838K yesterday at my local big box store. It is a DREAM to use compared to the LHF2025K. I would highly recommend that as an alternative. Sturcturally, I don't know why the 20 vs 18 guage matters to the manufacter, but as the installer it is night and day difference. I just now put the LHF2025K back in the UPS drop-off thanks to Amazon's EXCELLENT return policy. I will not miss it. It deserves less than 1 star. Shame on you Bostitch for such a shoddy product.
