Much safer and eliminated burn marks on wood. Definitely worth the money.

Installed on a Powermatic 66 tablesaw every cut is cleaner and the saw is safer. My shop mate and I both wish we would have made this upgrade sooner. If your saw doesnt have a riving knife of splitter, just order it.
Updated from the older plastic splitter

After having the older plastic splitter tear out of the throat plate when cutting 2 inch Beech that tension-closed, I ordered the steel insert splitters. The installation went O.K. except the drill wandered on the back "keeper" hole resulting in an unwanted offset. The lack of hardened drill insert allows blue plastic to be removed by the flutes of the drill. Be careful to align drill vertically, don't count on the plastic fixture. This splitter was installed in a good phenolic zero-clearance plate. I found out the hard way that UHMW throat plates are trouble if your shop has wide temperature swings. UHMW plastic has a fairly high temperature coefficient... it swells as the temperature goes up. In an un-airconditioned Arizona shop the UHMW plates won't fit in the hot summer.

This maybe overpriced for what it is. But it works, and its well made, and the instructions are clear. I much prefer it over the stock splitter with the worthless anti-kickback teeth. Removal is instant for cuts that interfere. Combined with the Gripper, the safest way to rip very thin strips.
Reading review of crooked holes....I took my time and followed the instructions. They are long and it seems like it takes longer than it should, but my holes are dead on.
If you are concerned about your ability to drill a straight hole, I would spot them and finish them on the drill press.

Helps keep an older saw safe

Nicely designed product. The splitters I received had minor superficial cracks in the plastic surface. I reached out to the manufacturer and they sent out replacements and basically said the superficial cracks probably wont be an issue but we'll send a another set just for peice of mind. Their other products also seem well designed supported by a customer centric company. Its great that there is a company supporting older saw and helping keep woodworkers safe
You don’t need the jig.

I like the product but anyone with skills could install the splinters without the included jig. I would just buy the splitters.
