Read the reviews that it fit small. Probably would fit a child who wears a 4t - unless they are really tall.... It is very cute and well made. Bought it for my daughter to wear to a pirate party. She is 48 inches tall and weighs 48 lbs. The crotch part of the tights came up just past her knees so I had her wear black 'playground' shorts to keep them up. The top part fit her well but the skirt part barely covered her bottom - yay for the shorts. It fit her more like a tunic. We did not put the boot covers on because they didn't fit over her little legs. She looked cute without them.

great fabric. we have several pirate costumes for the kids but this one is by far my favorite for the fabric alone. it's thin and lightweight, very common for inexpensive costumes, sure. but it's not the shiny cheap fabric that will fall apart in the wash. this fabric feels nice and looks good too. (for the record, I haven't washed it yet and can't comment on how well it holds up.) I also love the striped tights- very nice touch. we didn't use the boot covers after all, ended up using our own boots but the ones that came with the costume were nice enough and a sturdy almost spongy material. I suspect they would have held up fine throughout the day of an active preschooler. we added a red petticoat beneath the dress to give it more bounce which elevated the whole ensemble in my mind. it was all worth it as my daughter had such confidence and pride in her outfit.

Great costume for the price! One note about the L size (4-6): the stockings were too small for my 3.5 year old (who is of average height and weight. The sagged and she had to pull them up a lot.

I did put black shorts on top of her cute red & white tights just bc she would be running/jumping around. The tights were sturdy enough to survive a jolly jumper, play yard & being on the floor grabbing candy, no holes!
