I purchased this hat for my child's Mad Hatter Tea Party birthday party. In brief, it worked and looked great.
Pros:
- I have a rather large head and this fit just fine. I didn't even have to bother to adjust the size though I think this would be helpful for those with more normal size heads.
- The quality of the material is very good. The hat held its shape (once formed) really well!
- Great price!
Cons (and these are very minor, hence maintaining five starts):
- One must stuff something into the top part of the hat to make it stand up. We just used some crunched-up paper and it worked fine. This is because of...
- The hat comes flat when shipped. Hence you must prop up the top of the hat after you receive it.
In the end, it was a hit at the party! That is all I can ask of such a hat...

The quality on this hat is much better than I had expected. Also, the other reviews aren't kidding. This sucker is HUGE! It's actually pretty ridiculous. I guess you could say you'd have to be...MAD...to wear something this large. ;) I think it will take a little finagling to fix the shape of the top of the hat, but that's just due to the flat shipping. I bet the UPS guy was curious about this large box which was so light, you couldn't tell there was anything actually in it. If I had to make one "complaint" it would be that the band is yellow with red spots. Is it described as such in the Lewis Carroll stories? If so, then my complaint is retracted. If not, I'd rather have seen the lighter green the Mad Hatter sports in the Disney cartoon adaptation. All in all, a great product. Now let's just hope my boyfriend loves it; this is his Christmas present.
