DO NOT BE FOOLED: This is Regular HI98103

Hanna Instruments HI 98103B Beer pH Tester, with Replaceable Electrode
Seller touted that this model was HI98103B a "Special Tester" with this statement in the item description, "It is designed for beer and beverage making, but can be used for other applications;".

Upon receiving the pH checker, I find printed upon the label and all documentation, that this is just the plain-Jane HI98103 pH checker that has been on the market for several years now. Misleading information and misrepresentation of a product to sell more is wrong. Bait&Switch is illegal.

Upon further checking with Hannah Instruments, they don't even make such a checker, and the base model (without the "B") is the only one available. Therefore, this model for sale here is a total fabrication, a sham, a lie, an insult to those that would purchase it thinking it would be more resistant to ethanol/drinking alcohol since it was made for the beer/beverage industry.

Its only saving grace is that it was one of the less expensive, albeit identical, Hannah pH checkers on Amazon, so it wasn't a total loss. Still a lie is a lie, and shall not be rewarded. One star it has earned, because I can reward it with no less. The seller should be ashamed, for its part it took in the fabrication of this falsehood and a reprimand should be handed out by Amazon to that effect.
Excellent Product

It comes apart and you can order just the sensor, it is really nice, easy to read, and the results come fast. The black piece and red piece come apart, and makes it easy to clean so u dont screw up the electronics.
Some good, but not the one I recieved

The pH meter works, but was very unstable with readings that fluctuate when the meter was touched. Had an existing Hanna pH meter that I used for comparison and was looking to replace it, but that didn't happen with the 'new' one I received. I believe it was just the pH meter I received that was faulty. Amazon did refunded the purchase. That was great serve.
Spend money on a better unit

Ive recently come into a hobby that requires the use of these. I originally bought one from a store, it cant hold a proper PH level and I bought a better(and much more expensive) one to save myself the hassle. This was quite cheap a few months later as a Amazon lightning deal so I decided to get another, since this was cheaper than a replacement probe(the black part), as a backup. Same issue. It was all over the place, couldnt keep a constant reading and was almost never near my good PH meter in reading. Im done with these units, though Hanna has a good rep for scientific instruments.

Another thing I noticed is there was no storage solution that comes with the PH probe. The user manual(as well as the manual for my good PH meter and every source on the internet) says do not let the PH probe dry for long periods of time. Both of these readers that I bought came in bone dry. To be fair to Hannas customer service I haven't tried to rectify this and just tossed them since I have a good one. Dont waste your money on this unless you are using it as a one off situation.
First two were defective - third one worked

We called Hanna Instruments because our first order didn't work. We sent it back. We purchased a second from a local store. It didn't work. We ordered a replacement and finally the ph tester worked. We use it for our hot-tub and our Tower Garden.
