You better be ready to babysit this vacuum. It constantly finds and gets hung upon the bottom drain. It also has a difficult time with the walls, always seems to get hung up on them too. I figured it would eventually steer itself out of trouble. Spends 90% of it's time in the deeper part of the pool. Leaves large parts of the shallower part untouched. Nope. All in all, I would recommend a less expensive more effective vacuum.
Worked great for about a month, then it started destroying itself from the inside out... then it was fixed!

My Hayward 925ADC was delivered Aug 16, 2017. I hooked it up and it worked great! My kids quickly nicknamed it "Gary". My previous bottom cleaner would always get hung up on the stairs, but Gary just zips around the bottom of the pool keeping things nice and tidy. It's also much quieter than my previous cleaner. My pool is in a screened cage so there isn't any large leaf debris for it to suck up; just the occasional bugs and dirt that blows into the pool. After over a month with no issues, and to my dismay, Gary started to slow down. At first I thought it was an issue with my pump. Air in the system? Nope. Skimmer basket full? Nope. Cartridge filter full? Nope. The pump and filter was working just fine. Suction pressure looks good. Why then was Gary getting slower and slower each day? Today I finally decided to give 'ol Gary a closer look. When I took him apart I was shocked to find that the black spinning part in the middle (sorry, I don't know what they call it) had somehow separated into two parts, and each part was rubbing into the other, causing massive damage. Check out the photos. Gary was slowly destroying itself! Was it something I said? Further, the loose-but-still-partially-spinning pieces began to rub a hole through the main housing (also shown in the photos). I'm starting to wonder if I had received a defective unit. Gary may have been slowly dying since the first day I turned it on. I tried to look for a return option on Amazon but there doesn't seem to be one for this product. I thought that was strange since it's less than 2 months old. Most manufactures have a one year warranty on their products. So, I'm posting this info here to 1) let others know what happened to my unit in case they experience the same thing, and 2) hopefully someone from Hayward will reach out to me to help make things right.
UPDATE: I was contacted by Hayward (see comment) and was instructed to take the unit to a local authorized Hayward distributor for a warranty assessment. The local pool supply store verified my purchase and said that all of the damage is covered under warranty. After a few days, Gary was ready to come home! It's been working fine ever since. The problem was fixed quickly and professionally so I'm changing my review from 1 star to 4 stars. Sorry, I can't give it all 5 stars after seeing Gary suffer like that!

... for an old Hayward model and it performs as good as the old one

We bought this as replacement for an old Hayward model and it performs as good as the old one. The old one did it,s job for 18 years and was twice overhauled. They cost more then regular pool cleaners but therefore they are top of the line and not those "blue down to earth promises" which never occur. Would buy it anytime again !!!
My New Navigator

Once again after five years have retired my Navigator for a new one. Except for a few negative, strange reviews, mine joins the overwhelming 5 star reviews. It is the best cleaner for your pool.
Great product. Scammed on the Rebate.

Works very good. Hayward will not honor the rebate program if you buy from Amazon. They told me to return it and buy elsewhere.
Nope. Just another Rebate scam. Other than that the unit will clean your pool quickly!
