I didn't realize how poorly my old Hayward vacuum was cleaning. It lasted years and I could tell it was on its last leg because it would leave patches of missed areas. I put the new vac in and away it went. It's perfect. One thing I did learn when reading the directions was no to coil the hoses. I had no idea. I would often remove my old Hayward vac and coil the hoses up on the edge of the pool. I would leave it there like that for days. DO NOT DO THIS! Apparently this creates memory in the hose and it will mess with the cleaning map. I could never figure out why my hoses would get all tangled up and why certain areas of the pool were never touched. Now I know. Sometimes reading the directions really does pay off. Anyway, this is a great vacuum. There are many more out there for a higher price. I don't think that is necessary.

I had previously owned a Hayward (twice) over the course of 15 years, then we moved and inherited a Polaris, The Polaris was not getting the job done. I went back to the Hayward. It was the best move I ever made in choosing a cleaner. It was simple to set up. I applied an inline leaf catcher, and the unit climbs the walls and cleans the entire pool crystal clear. We initially used the manufacturer's recommendation regarding the length of hose to be used. It proved to be too long, it was getting tangled at the recommended length. I removed one section, and it has worked flawlessly. I would definitely recommended this to a friend.

Excellent pool cleaner. Third one in 18 years and cannot give this cleaner enough praise. Also sales and customer service support is tops.

The PoolVac XL works out of the box and does a good job. It was purchased as a replacement for an older model by the same manufacturer. It does the corners and walls very well and runs over the raised drain screen the code now requires (the screen is required so a 2 year old can't be hurt by sitting on the 7 foot deep drain, our government at work once more). Anyway the old model would not do that . I would recommend this for any pool that was covered and for most that are uncovered if you also get the leaf catcher canister that attaches to the suction line. My pool is uncovered and a 12 foot high bogenvillia sits next to it and drops leaves constantly but the Hayward takes care of it for about two weeks without any outside interference. then the leaf catcher has to be emptied and your good to go again.

When we put the pool in almost 10 years ago we bought one of these. It stays connected pretty much 24/7. My pool has a dedicated vacuum outlet so i don't have to rob my skimmer. IT ran without fail for 5 years. Had the insides changed out and ran again for another 4. This new one seems just as good (or better). The thing is made like a tank. As I removed it from the box I fumbled it and it rolled across the concrete deck. not a scratch!

Hook up is so quick and everything needed is in the box.
