Wow!

Wow! I never thought you could get a good pcdi with ground lift so inexpensively. What a difference it makes and the build feels solid. Good job on this product, I will be buying a few more for my kit.
You need one

Straight mini to XLR plugs sort of work, but they give you only one channel and usually a buzz with it. This gadget is a must-have. The built-in volume pot REALLY helpful so you aren't diving for some other controls; it is just right there.
Sturdy and useful for every gear bag

Works exactly as you would expect. The build quality is great but if you are buying this spend a little bit more and get the one with the lift switch. Ground hum only happens when the connected device is on AC power. I.e. Laptops. Cell phones and other battery powered objects are fine. Is is not a fault of the adapter but how electricity works in general. Better to have and not need than be in my situation and wish you got the other one.
A must have if you do sound rentals

I provide sound for a lot of different types of events. Most of the time I need to patch in someone's laptop or phone into the mixer. I paired this with a 25' XLR and just tell people to just plug into this and control their own volume. Such a simple option and it keeps them from touching the levels on my board.
Great little box.

This box takes a stereo line or headphone level signal and has an isolated, balanced, mono output at microphone signal level.
Plugged into a laptop allows a presenter to adjust volume with a convenient knob instead of fiddling around with menus and stuff like that. Should have bought this sooner.
Likes:
sturdy box
Volume knob is large and easy to use
short, attached cable is just right length for most situations
Audio quality is good enough for MP3 or video playback.
Dislikes:
Output level is pretty low, even for a "mic-level" signal. Low quality mic inputs really struggle to bring the level back up without adding a lot noise. A slightly lower transformer ratio would be a very welcome improvement.
Knob on top makes it hard to stick in a toolbag pocket. But it also makes it easy to use. Can't have it both ways.
No markings for volume max and min. Most of the time, it really doesn't matter, just turn up or down to suit. Easy enough to add some marks with a silver sharpie.
