Good array of colors

These are nice, soft pencils. They can do a light, pastel color or, with more layers and more pressure, a darker color. The box they come in is made so that you can pull up on the back of the insert, then fold out the two side wings and the pencils stand up like stadium seating so that you can see all of the colors and get to them easily. The only problem I'm having so far is keeping them sharp. The leads seem to be fairly soft, so they flatten out and wear down quickly. Each pencil has a color name on it which can be helpful in getting you into the correct family of colors. I haven't found, however, that the names necessarily match the actual color the pencils put out. Strawberry, for instance, really isn't colored like a strawberry at all. Overall, the pencils do their job and are easy to use, but they do seem a little pricey.
nice pencils and great color selection

These pencils have worked well for coloring. I really like the selection of color shades. They are easy to sharpen with a good sharpener without splitting or breaking the tips. The color seems to easily go on the pages.
Pencils good ... box not so much
JudyMae✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 26, 2014
The pencils are fine ... but the box didn't work out for me. It's not like a Crayola box where the pencils sit on ledges. This box has to be pulled up to raise the pencils in back, which is hard to do because the box doesn't want to do that. Then the pencils are held by two "shelves" that have holes ... and the holes on the top shelf don't line up that well with the holes on the bottom shelf ... so putting a pencil back takes work. They don't just fall into place like Crayons do.

I ended up taking all the pencils out and putting them into a tin box with a lid I had on hand. That made it hard to find the color I wanted, so I ended up grouping the various colors with rubber bands around them. It would've been nice if the box they came in would've been like a Crayola box. But the pencils themselves seem good for the price.
They work better warm.

I noticed they work much better when they are warm and not so much when they are cold. So your best results will be in warm rooms or in the afternoons when the temperatures have warmed up.

They got here with only a slight snag.
One of the pencils was chipped but nothing a good sharpening can't fix.

The pop up box actually isn't hard to figure out, all around the box is one of those type of cut out lines, just push it in and voile the box pops out, it doesn't really need to pop out because you can still see all the pencils anyway.

No duplicates here I have all 100 and all are sharpened not to points which is good in my case as too many times have I sharpened them to points and they chipped.

No worries though the colored pencils aren't bad quality they can go on paper soft or bold depending on how hard you press, and the lead inside will only break if you don't handle them gently and you need to know how to sharpen them.

They are like any pencil just handle with care, I've had RoseArt pencils several times over the years now and I've never had much of an issue with them.

Happy coloring!
