About me: I'm an avid backpacker, food lover, protein junkie and vegetarian.

About this product: It's perfect for backpacking, it's tasty, vegetarian, but could have higher protein content (hence 4, not 5 stars).

Freeze-dried products made my backpacking adventures super-easy. They are light and easy to carry (though I have to point out that products from MaryJanesFarms are much smaller than the ones from Mountain House or Backpacker's Pantry), and take no time to make. Usually, as soon as I arrive at the campground, I start boiling water and in meantime I get my gear out of the backpack. When the water is done boiling, I add it to the pasta package, mix it and let it stand for ~8 min. I use that time to set up my camp and as soon as I am done with that my food is ready! How awesome is that.

As for taste, well, it is not a home-cooked meal, but it is pretty tasty. In general, I find products from Mountain House tastier than the ones from Backpacker's Pantry. And, in general, pastas are better than curries. It is difficult to mess up pasta I guess...

Used it for an Overnight backpacking trip and it tasted like a home cooked meal. It is not enough for two, but it is a good meal and will make you full.
