This is a great add-on and idea for Rock Band. It adds an extra layer of challenge for Rock Band fans. It is probably as close as you can get to playing an actual guitar, while still having the Rock Band experience.

Awesome guitar for Rock Band 3. Synced easily to Wii wirelessly. Also used with a Mio midi to USB device to link to PC for PianoMarvel guitar lesson software. Works great but does not provide any noise for audio feedback while playing (somewhat hard to adjust to while playing). Overall highly recommend for multiple uses!

OMGoodness!! This guitar is awesome! Totally intimidating; completely challenging! Coordination and skill will take a minute to develop if you don't play guitar for real because this is extremely close to the real deal. At first glance it looks like it has strings, but upon closer examination you realize what you're seeing is really a series of thin, horizontal buttons laid out along the neck in the correct fret and six string positions. For the novice, the Pro Guitar tutorials of Rock Band 3 are essential. If you've been wanting to learn to play guitar then this is a great way to get an understanding of the basics while learning the fingerings and moving from string to string. In fact, with this guitar, you're going to learn whether you want to or not, unless you brought it just to look at it. Me? I'm playing mine!

I got this on sale, so I am not entirely sure if I would feel the same way if I had gotten it on full price. This guitar allows you to play the game on standard or pro mode, but it does stretch the "standard" buttons out to the length of the top 5 frets, which makes the simple game a little harder than it would be if you had the regular guitar. I found the pro mode to be quite difficult, but the chords do transition (pretty much) to an actual guitar if you feel so inclined (not that it is always entirely clear what the moving shapes on the screen want you to do). Most importantly: it looks cool, way cooler than the standard 5 button controller, and everyone knows that 50% of Rocking on Rockband is how awesome you look when your other family members and friends walk in on you.
