They are not super soft, and a bit more on the firm ...

I have purchased 4 sets of these within the last year to put on top of the carpet in the house for workouts. They are not super soft, and a bit more on the firm side, but I don't find it uncomfortable while doing my floor exercises. Purchased another softer floor mat, but I came back to these due to the fact that they are easy to clean. The "grooves" on the mat are not super deep, so a wipe down is fast. Compared to the other mat, which have bigger "grooves", and I have to put in extra time to clean each nook to ensure the mats are full clean.

I bought these mats for my home gym. I initially looked at the regular gym mats that were really thick, but all the ones I saw had the tar like smell to it. Having a 3 year old with possbily one more on the way, I decided to go for mats that were kid-safe and non-toxic without any smells. When they first arrived and I opened the box, I was skeptical at the durability. I was going to return them, even started the return process. I decided to lay them out in my garage anyway and the first person to step on them was my toddler. It was then that I decided to keep them. Knowing that these mats are non-toxic for me and my kids, gives me peace of mind.
In terms of equipment: I had a 30 pound kettlebell sitting on it for a few weeks that I didn't use. When I picked it up. There of course was an indentation. After maybe 45 minutes, it was gone. It was also easy to cut to size for tight areas. Even my dogs end up sleeping on these mats when I am away at work-they're cool and soft compared to their extra large plush dog bed. With that said, it's really easy to clean and wipe off with a damp cloth.
I ordered 7 sets and in process of ordering 1 more set to fill the area.
Only complaint I have is that they don't come with corners. That's something you would have to purchase separately.

These worked just fine for my purposes (HIIT on our woodfloor). They did slip, but I just put our area rug over them and that's no longer an issue. I was very sad when I found MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper ones at Costco that even have Microban :( I wish I would have seen those on the market before I bought these. DEFINITELY shop around if you are looking for these mats. The ones from Costco even come with borders!!! They were only $13 for 8 squares and 12 borders....much better value there. Anyway......Hakuna Matata :)

We have had these mats for over 3 years and these are some tough mats.
I would say, by today's standards (where most stuff breaks within a short time), these are well-made mats.
Currently, we use these as Yoga mats, whereas before (for about 2 years) they were used as cushioning mats for our treadmill.
Easy to clean and tough.

I purchased these mats to use while doing Insanity. I was able to use them the same day they arrived. There was no smell and they linked smoothly and lay flat on my concrete basement floor. Initially, I was worried about slipping considering Insanity requires a lot of moving, jumping, etc but they stayed in place and I felt safe.
I purchased three sets and that was enough to cover the area in my basement. I didn't purchase the edges, as other reviewers did, as I didn't need that finished look since no one sees it but me. I like how I could purchase more and link them in easily or unlink/remove some of them if I wanted to use them in another area or put them away. They aren't bulky and give enough cushion without feeling too soft (I don't worry about losing my balance). I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who plans to use it for intense cardio workouts on a concrete floor.
