I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but the Loadhandler worked great for my gravel project. I bought the mid-size model for my Ranger (standard bed) and everything fits perfectly. NOW IN MY CASE-- I have a plastic bed-liner, so the mat slid good, and I only loaded 1/2 yard of gravel (#57 granite) at a time, so I was only hauling/unloading about 1400 lbs. per trip. The cranking effort was minimal and my wife rolled the truck forward while I cranked and spread the gravel (work smart, not hard). I think where folks may be having issues is either overloading the mat, or not having a smooth bed for the mat to slide on. Since renting a small dump truck for the day is $250 around here, it paid for itself on this project alone. My landscaping supplier is only 3 miles away, so multiple trips wasn't an issue for me. Everybody's needs are different, but for me this product is perfect for getting the most out of your truck for those small projects.
If you will use it...buy it.

recommendation... (learn from my mistakes) ...put a tarp across the front (in front of the wheelwells) under this things mat...put the mat up over and tuck down between the bed of truck and the cab...
after you unload the gravel, dirt, wood..whatever...you then just have a small amount of stuff left on the tarp...grab the tarp and pull it off...you are unloaded. Takes less than one minute to completely and spotlessly unload a full bed of gravel!
downside...the mat is flat braided material, the edges fray and eventually get caught up in the crank and mess up. This part could be redesigned...but this is the best thing I have bought for my truck! get it!

It looks like it will do the job. I wanted a unloader for my 94 GMA 2500. This drag mat is only 42" wide, my bed is 48" wide.
