High quality tool.

This is a high quality tool that if properly cared for will last a lifetime. Easy to set up and fine tune right out of the box. Small enough to use as a smoothing plane yet long enough to use as a jointing plane.
Excellent plane for the money

I got this "used?" a couple months ago (it had no signs of wear except for a small chip of some dark wood in the throat. The shipping gunk was still on the capiron, chip beaker and iron.
Very nicely built on par with the Lee Valley and only a little inferior to the Lie-neilson No 6 ($375). This is a Fore plane which is used for light joinery and truing boards. It is slightly smaller than the LV or LN planes but is a lot less expensive.
The reason that I did not give this a 5 in spite of it being a real bargain compared to other planes of similar quality is that Woodcraft doesn't offer any replacement irons nor any specialty irons for this plane!
This is a great value and far far better then the Gröz or the Anant (also Chinese made but lacking QC).

Good looking and functioning plane

Loving this plane so far. After unboxing and cleaning of the plane, it was only a few quick minutes at the sharpening station to get things ready to go. Cuts very nice. Would definitely buy again.
Works great for me.

Required a little honing and it was off to the races. The machining seems precise and clean. Using it to prep faces for joining guitar bodies. Works great and is much quieter than a power jointer. Not the same tool in some regards but I can push this thing at night or early in the morning and not upset anybody. I have some smaller older planes that do what they're supposed to and a couple that don't. I haven't ever tried the more expensive planes and do not intend to.
Great value!

This is a great value hand plane. Just to be honest. This is the best and most expensive hand plane I have used. However, I have flattened, squared, and jointed 20 12x12 southern yellow pine boards for my workbench.
If you are a beginner, it does take some time to get used to working with hand planes.
