absolutely excellent

This product is absolutely excellent. Historically I've had a lot of problems with the sensitivity of my skin, especially below the jaw line and on the neck. In high school I had to maintain a clean shaven face because I was in a Marine Corps JROTC program and had to follow uniform standards. After high school I joined the Army and have been in for two years now, so I guess you can say that shaving has been a typical thing for me for a long time and I've done it daily for years.
Prior to switching my current shaving set up (which uses this product), I was using a Schick Hydro5 razor with Gillette Fusion ProGlide "Hydra Smooth" shaving gel. It was pretty much the best set up from whichever local grocery store I could go to so I stuck with it, even though I was having terrible breakouts on my neck and razor burn for the longest time. I realized that rushing my shave and not maintaining the freshest cartridge was also not helping my sensitive skin but doing so was expensive and I still would have occasional razor irritation. I began using Neutrogena Razor Defense post shave lotion and though it definitely helps to keep my skin healthier and soothes the irritation, it wasn't keeping it from happening.
I decided that perhaps the annual cost of five blade cartridges, as well as the replacements of my gel and lotion, were ultimately not cost-effective for the lack of comfort I experienced. I began researching what lotions were best for sensitive skin and what blades and shaving style would be best for me. I decided to purchase my current set up and have seen huge improvements! I won't go into too much depth about what I use specifically but I have a badger brush to apply this product and a double edge safety razor, and I think it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Now, I'll get into the specifics of this shaving cream:
It is parabens free, so if you desire "luxury with a conscience" you can find it here.
The ingredients stated on the bottom of the container are; aqua, stearic acid, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, myristic acid, potassium hydroxide, glycerin, coconut fatty acid, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, allantoin, parfum, triethanolamine, phenoxytethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, and sodium hydroxide.
The parfum has an very nice appeal, though I can't really explain it, it doesn't smell over powering at all and doesn't give you an "old man smell" either. Applying this cream, which is smooth and ivory colored, is definitely done best with a brush and a small amount goes a long ways! It doesn't make a mess and lets my razor glide with a close shave unlike anything I've ever seen. Most importantly for me, I have zero irritation and my skin feels amazing!! I highly recommend this product, the cost is well worth it and I can foresee this single container lasting me quite some time.

If you're new to wet shaving it's important to know that the right shaving cream can make all the difference in your results, and Taylor of Old Bond is that right shaving cream. I made the switch from typical canned shaving creams (such as Gillette, Barbasol, Nivea, ect.) to shaving soaps about two years ago, and I've found the switch to be gratifying in almost every fashion. Canned shaving creams lack moisture, and I don't mean those 100+ moisturizers and lubricators that each cream has, I'm simply talking about water. Water makes all the difference in your shave and incorporating the correct amount of water into your lather has a learning curve, granted, but allows for the smoothest shave and irritation free skin afterwards.
Now, to disscussing the shaving cream itself. Not only does it create a wicked lather that the gods themselves would envy, the scent here is unmatched. Intial high notes have a very clean scent, reminicant of a luxuryous hand soap. When creating the lather the depth and complexity of this scent further introduces itself. Notes of a bergamont, citrus and the lightest hint of germanium to entice your nose. All this complexity is resting on the base notes of patchouli and the every so subtle musk to seduce your sense of smell. This scent adheres nicely to your face after your shave, remaining faintly on your skin for only a few hours. And a tip, Jermyn Street pairs nicely with a variety of colognes and eau de toilettes ranging from Versace Eau Fraiche to Armani Code; it's versatile I tell you.
So, weater you're new to wet shaving or even a seasoned vet to the art of the straight razor shave, Taylor of Old Bond Street's Jermyn Street Shaving Cream is never a disappointment.
Also, if you're wonder how long they will last, I'd estimate this bowl would provide twice as many full lathers than a typical canned shaving cream (which are usually around the same price). Happy shaving my friends.

I chose this rating because I can honestly say Taylor of Old Bond Street has earned it. Is it inexpensive to buy? Oh no,no,no! Is it a bargain as in shaves per container, I say yes, for a few reasons. Number one scent, it has a delicious light scent to it, which does dissipate quickly, so if you have scent allergies, ( as I do) you may find this very acceptable, you can't be too careful, but this product is worth a try. Secondly, the lather. If you are using a shaving brush, and you really should, (believe me it stretches the shave cream so much further as well as helps to gently exfoliate your skin AND feels great.) Might I suggest the Ivory colored handle Parker synthetic brush, (watch another gentleman's great video of that product, here on Amazon!) Everyone says to use an almond sized amount in your shaving cup and whip it into a thick lather with heavy peaks. I found this too be twice as much as I needed to do a three pass shave. I started using half that amount and STILL have beautiful cream left over, it's a shame! I hate to waste things! I bet, even with the waste it will be sometime next year when I run out of this wonderful shaving cream! Then you can be sure I will already have the next tub of this sensitive skin Jermyn Street cream all ready to crack open to replace it. Number three. The shave. This is what it's all about! Protection of the skin from the harsh aspects of shaving on sensitive skin. I believe this product truly excels in this area also! Razor burn? Say bye-bye! allergic skin reactions? Well everyone is different, but Taylor seems to do their homework in so many aspects of shaving, I thought they were worth trying. In my case, they indeed were! Plus my face is BABY soft and smooth at the end.Men, if you are married, and would like it to stay that way, do NOT let other women touch your face! If you're single and love it, invite all of the SINGLE (you must like living too) women to feel it regularly. Women, this is such a light scent, YOU may want to try it on your legs! It's your call whether you let people feel them. I would sincerely urge caution! In conclusion this is a product I had high hopes for and it delivered! The Amazon price on all shaving products is pretty tough to beat, so go shopping!

For me, this is the best shave cream on the market. It lathers very easily with a brush and bowl. I use a boar brush btw. It provides a great cushion and a wonderful shave. Slickness is very high. My skin has no adverse reaction whatsoever. It is also a great value. I have bought it eight times and will continue to do so. Love it.
Good product, but not great......

If you are using commercial shaving creams, this is a huge improvement. Unlike the commercial stuff, if you use it properly it will not dry on your face while you are shaving. I highly recommend using a brush, (no bowl needed, it just wastes product) it helps create a nice lather, don't expect this type of shaving cream to lather like the can stuff, but it does protect your face better. The proper way to use this product is to have a wet brush, I use a badger hair brush. I run it under hot water for 10-15 sec. while filling the sink, then lightly shake off excess water (this is called wet shaving so some water is needed), then push a small bit (about the size of a quarter) in the brush. I said push in the brush and not on the brush because when you lather it on your face, you need to press the brush down so the bristles spread out on your face. Make sure your face is damp prior to adding the shaving cream, and re-rinse then reapply shaving cream between strokes with your razor. Shaving cream is a lubricant, you don't ever want to shave without a layer of shaving cream. Youtube has videos to show proper shaving techniques. Always clean your brush, then store it hanging bristle side down and it will last a long time.
Pros: This cream has a nice lather and good smell, I didn't find it overbearing. More product, cheaper purchase price and smaller container then Art of Shaving shaving creams (biggest competitor at this price point).
On the negative side, I live in AZ, and ordered the shaving cream when it was about 82 F, and the product was completely melted. As mentioned in other reviews, some of the cream seeped out during shipping. Once cooled down it did solidify. Prior to using this product I used Art of Shaving shaving cream, and this product is not as thick, so you need to use more product per shave. I was a little disappointed because I was hoping to use this as a cheaper replacement for the Art of Shaving shaving cream, but between the extra amount needed per shave and the amount lost in shipping this costs the same or more then the Art of Shaving in the long run. The Art of Shaving product has a thicker container, so it holds .3 oz less, but it has never melted or leaked any product. I also have very sensitive skin, and being thicker, the Art of Shaving products work better for me.
I used this product for a couple months before writing this review so I could give it a fair assessment. All in all, this is not a bad product, it works well, smells good, and is a far cry better then commercial creams out of a spray can. I will probably go back to the Art of Shaving products however because they are thicker and work better on my sensitive skin.
