Nice experience

This was my first time trying mochi and I have to say I love it. It definitely has a very unique texture. Not much flavor to the mochi itself so all of the flavor comes from the filling. I will admit it was strange at first but by the end of the box I was finding myself wanting more.
The packaging is nice. There were a lot more mochi than I was expecting, though I will admit they were smaller than I anticipated. Each one comes individually wrapped in what look like paper cupcake liners, and inside of protective plastic inside the box.
As with any new food there's a chance that you wom't like it and I do have to say the sesame is not my favorite. It has a very particular flavor, amd is very bitter. The seeds on the outside give a nice chrunchiness that I actually liked, but the filling was not the best.
The anko or red bean paste was very mild compared to the other two. Since there is no outside coating the mochi is only flavored by the anko. I did like it however and eould recomend starting with this one.
The peanut was my favorite. The outside is coated in peanut crumbs and the inside is filled with an almost coarse beanut butter. Very sweet and gives the mochi a nice flavor.
All in all I very much enjoyed this, with the exception of the sesame.
If you know, you KNOW! Perfect for seasoned Asian dessert palates!

I am both Taiwanese and Japanese (this product was made in Taiwan and the mochi is from Japanese origin). I read all the bad reviews from people who have no idea what a traditional mochi is supposed to taste like and I just shake my head because they obviously had no clue what they were buying and trying. Please disregard those reviews if you have a more seasoned palate for Asian desserts. I would say as a lover of desserts and a baker myself and having grown up eating authentic Japanese/Taiwanese desserts, this product really surpassed my expectations. I'm used to eating fresh mochi so the fact that these were sent by mail, in a package, through Amazon "” well, I set the bar really low but I was curious. I was so pleasantly surprised! This product was perfectly not too sweet (as should appropriately made Asian desserts), full of the right traditional flavors, and had the right chewy consistency. I've ordered these several times already and even my picky mom and other Asian guests approve. Order these especially if you're having a traditional mochi craving!
Good selection and taste

All right, I'll try not to make this review too convoluted and drawn out. I live in a very rural area and we don't have any sort of Asian grocery for miles, so I just don't have access to these kinds of foods. I've always seen mochi in various anime, manga, ect... and wanted to try it out of curiosity. Now, let's get to the review.

The mochi itself isn't really like anything we have here in the states. About the closest thing I can compare it to would be a marshmallow. Mochi is basically a decently sized, hollowed out marshmallow with various fillings and various coating on top of it. This is a rough comparison of course.

The red bean mochi was delicious. It had the consistency of crushed beans (which I didn't dislike at all) and was mildly sweet. It would go perfectly with a beverage like green tea. The peanut butter mochi was great because I happen to love peanut butter. It had peanut butter filling and a peanut crumble coating on the top. Lastly, the sesame flavor is absolutely terrible. I tried one and it reminded me of charred coconut shavings that had lost its flavor.

All in all, if you've never tried mochi before like me, and you're wondering what all the hype is about, go ahead and try it. If you're open to new things I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Delicious

It's delicious. It's fresh and good inside. I love the black bean inside the Michigan.
