It's got power. Lots of power. There's something happening in there. I can feel it pull toward metal stuff. So I am confident that my 5 1/4" commodore 1541 floppy drive head is not the problem now. Next, I (hopefully) refurbish a reel to reel tape deck that was bought in Vietnam...
