The original gasket I had was black but the green replacement was the closest match.
This is the extra think gasket kit for older Gerber toilets.

This is the super sized rubber gasket kit required to fix older Gerber toilets. Mine was manufactured March 17 1992 (date stamped into the porcelain of the tank) and is a 28-290 model. There is also an A21 stamped into the tank but I'm not sure what that indicates.

The new gasket and tank screws worked perfectly.

Word of warning: The orange and blue home supply stores carry a Fluidmaster extra thick gasket which you may think will work. It will not, some older Gerber toilets need an even thicker, deeper, fuller gasket, than the Fluidmaster extra thick gaskets. If you want to try anyway, because you're adventurous like that, don't fill your tank all the way on your first test flush; Less water for you to mop off your floor. You're welcome.
Fits Gerber AquaSaver Toilet #28-790

After replacing the wax ring, our toilet developed another leak. This leak seemed to be coming from somewhere between the toilet & the tank. It was a slow leak & we were able to catch the drip in a plastic cup. We shopped locally for parts we thought were needed, but kept buying the wrong sizes. So I shopped online for the specific parts we needed for repair & found this kit which was reasonably priced.

This assembly kit came quickly. It worked perfectly for our Gerber Aqua Saver #28-790 toilet purchased in 2002. Gerber uses plastic wing nuts to prevent over-tightening. You are instructed to hand tighten the wing nuts.

Included in the kit is:
a beveled gasket/washer
bolts, washers & nuts
2 channel pads
instruction sheet with schematic

Do not use in-tank, drop-in toilet bowl cleaners containing chlorine or bleach.

This is a Fluidmaster product.
This Is What I Needed!

I should have gotten this when the dripping started. Easy to install - and it worked.
